On the 8th of June 1941, while the 11th Battalion of the "Force Publique" participated to the 3rd battle on the Bortaï river, the 5th Battalion, under the command of Major Bounameau, prepared to attack Italian positions on Mogi Pass and then to capture Mogi village. But the operation failed on the 9th of June because of the heavy resistance of Italian defenders in the Pass and the 5th Battalion suffered heavy losses. Mogi villlage was captured only on the 25th of June by a second attack of the 5th Battalion reinforced by the 2nd company of the 6th Battalion. At that time the surrounding of Saïo, last Italian bastion, was confirmed.
