Historical Background:
After crushing the right flank of the Italian 8th Army at the Don River during the first phase of "Operation Little Saturn" in December 1942, the Red Army launched the second phase of the offensive in the middle of January 1943, trying to destroy or cut off the elite Italian Alpini Corps.

Briefing:
Axis Player (Italy):
- Take 4 Command cards.

Allied Player (Soviet Union):
- Take 6 Command cards.
- You move first.

Conditions of Victory:
7 Medals.

The marked town hex of Rossosh is a Permanent Medal Objective for the Allied player.

Exit rules are in effect for the area between the two exit markers on the Axis baseline, for the Allied player.

Special Rules:
Russian Command rules (Nations 2 - Red Army) and Italian Royal Army rules (Nations 6 - Italian Royal Army) are in effect.

Place badges on the Soviet and Italian elite units (Troops 2 - Specialized Units) and the Soviet engineers (Troops 4 - Combat Engineers).
