Hannut, Belgium - 12 May 1940. Applying the Dyle plan, Prioux General Cavalry Corps advanced in Belgium, preceding the first army of General Blanchard meets with German invasion armies. It is in the Hannut area that will be the first contact between the French discovery units and enemy avant-garde. Therefore, the mission of the cavalry Corps will be to retain or at least delay the German troops to allow implementation on the Dyle of Corps of battle ally, slower to move. The two mechanical light Divisions of General Prioux will receive the shock of two powerful German armoured Divisions supported by five infantry Divisions. Despite the report of forces against the French, the 2nd and 3rd DLM will take two days needed for the execution of the manoeuvre Dyle. On 14 may, decimated but having completed their mission, both the DLM will withdraw behind the Allied lines.
