Historical Background:
In August 1944,the Allied Army finally managed to get through the "Normand Pocket" almost two months of battling there after D-Day.
The G.I's and 2 Armor Divisions entered the city of Dinan in Brittany on August 2nd.
The orders from London for the Briton Partisans were to protect the main road Paris-Brest by entering in direct conflicts with the German Army in those parts of the country.
In the aera "Nord 2", Désiré Camus, a young school teacher who became one of the chiefs of the Partisans in this land since 1943, led an assault aiming to take control of the city of Pontrieux and force the Germans to withdraw toward the coast.
They planned to encircle the city on the 4th of August, but the German troops kept moving back and forth towards the main road so they waited for nightfall.
Many firefights and harsh battles happened that night around the city and the small towns around.
When the Partisans entered in Pontrieux on August 6th 1944, they were welcomed as heroes by the town-folks.
