Historical Background:
August 1944, after landing in Normandy in June, the Allies could eventually break through the normand pocket and were now able to conquer grounds in different parts of France.
The G.I.s helped by 2 US armor divisions entered in Dinan in August 2nd.
Orders coming from London for Bretons resistants were to secure the road track Paris-Brest by engaging firefights with the Germans in the regions around it.
In the section "Nord 2", led by Désiré Camus, a young teacher who became one of the head of local resistants since 1943, Bretons launched an assault aiming to liberate the city of Pontrieux and push the german troops towards the coast.
A plan to encircle the town was elaborated on August 4th, but so many enemies troops were moving, they had to reschedule the attack at night fall.
Several combats happened in the town and settlements around it.
Resistants would eventually enter in Pontrieux in August 6th 1944 where the population greeted them as heroes and liberators.
