Historical Background:
All over Rostov battles raged, street by street, and house by house, the Red Army fought for every inch of the city. In the beginning of the attack the SS Viking Division made good progress, but then became bogged down in bitter street fighting.
The Russian units defending Rostov, were ordered to defend right down to the last man. Elements of the Scandinavian SS Nordland Regiment were hindered from advancing for 2 days by well equipped NKVD troops using a large factory complex. They renewed their offensive with the news the German Panzers would be supporting their next attack. The SS forces took heavy loses Assaulting the factory from hidden Russian artillery & brutal hand-to-hand fighting. Finally Elements of the 13th Panzer Division arrived at the factory and helped overpowered the Russians, yet at a huge cost to the Germans. Over 50% of the SS troops had been killed during the Assault.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
