Historical Background:
Adolph Hitler had declared Warsaw-Praga a Fortress city, & ordered that it be held at All costs against the Red army, but this was not realistic. On the 10th of September the 2nd Tank Army & 1st Polish Army entered Praga. After 5 year of German occupation, these Soviet forces promised liberation as they probed the ancient streets.
The Waffen SS units that were ordered to defend Praga, were under no illusions what fate awaited them at the hands of the Russians, & were determined to put up a tough fight. The reconnaissance troop of the 2nd Polish Tank Regiment were not looking for a fight, as it was in search for a route to the Slaski Bridge for the rest of the Soviet forces that would follow them.
The SS Anti tank troops ambushed the Polish tanks using the roadblock as a trap, taking out 50% of them in the initial assault. The remainder of the Polish tanks managed to overrun the SS forces by bypassing the roadblock & moved to their rear, encircling them. They then drove down to the banks of the Vistula & within hours were followed by the rest of the 2nd Tank Regiment. By the 15th, the East bank had been totally secured by the Red Army.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
