Historical Background:
23 juin 1941 - Ukraine.
Operation "Barbarossa" was launched from the day before, Panzergruppe Kleist had crossed the Bug river and advanced in Ukraine. Pz Rgt.15 from 11.Panzer Division was approaching of Radziechow when Luftwaffe reported large concentration of enemy tanks in the area. The II Abteilung (armored battalion) engaged the combat against Russian infantry and some tanks and captured the town in the morning. A last Luftwaffe report informed of the impending arrival of enemy tanks. Pz Rgt.15 was in order of battle behind the ridge. About one hundred Russian tanks appeared on the top of the hill and advanced to battle. German tanks opened a heavy fire, supported by field artillery and Flak batteries. On the Russian side, it was a slaughter, 46 soviet tanks were burning on the battlefield at the end of the day. After this battle, 11.Panzer Division could advance again to the east, the way was clear.
