Historical Background:
1st company of 1.Fallschirmjäger Regiment had the mission to jump near the city of Dombas to cut the road and railway Oslo-Trondheim during operation Weserübung. Dropped on the 14th of April in a hard mountain area and with very bad weather conditions, the German paratroopers were scattered and suffered their first casualties. Contrary to all expectations, there were more Norwegian troops in Dombas who reacted quickly. Oberleutnant Schmidt, commander of German paratroopers was wounded in the first fight. In numerical inferiority, the Fallschirmjägers sabotaged the railway and withdraw in a farm on the mountain near Dovre village. During two days, they resisted to Norwegian assaults, waiting reinforcement that never arrived. On the 19th of April, out of ammunition and most of them wounded, the last German paratroopers surrendered to the Norwegian forces.
