Historical Background:
On June 8, 1944, two days after the scattered American airdrops and the landings of D-Day, Allied forces had regrouped and re-organized in the surroundings of Sainte-Mère-Église. From there, they began their advance toward Cherbourg.

The 8th Infantry Regiment, the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, headed north to Neuville-au-Plain in order to take the town. Their attack was the third confrontation between Allied and German forces in this area.

After a fierce battle, the Americans managed to capture the town. They even tried to advance further, but a new line of defense had been set by German troops, forcing them to stop.

The stage is set, the battles lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
