Historical Background:
After the capture of the big guns batteries in Azeville and Crisbecq, Allied forces pushed north to Quinéville. On June 14, 1944, they launched their main assault against the town. The 22nd Infantry Regiment and the 70th Tank Battalion attacked from the west while the 39th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, attacked from the south. Before entering the town, Allied forces had to take the surrounding hills held by the Germans.

After an intense air raid, the soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, supported by Sherman tanks, launched their attack. Despite some resistance on the hills, they soon entered Quinéville but anti-tank guns deployed in the town stopped the Shermans and the Allied advance. After several attempts, American forces got the upper hand - nevertheless, they still called for artillery support to help neutralizing the last defenders of the town. At 9.30 pm, the Germans surrendered: Allies were in control of the town.

The German armor unit is depleted (Troops 22 - Depleted Units).
