Historical Background:
Operatian Crusader started on the morning of 18 November 1941. It was an attempt to relieve the siege of Tobruk. The 7th Armored Brigade had the task of capturing the Airfield of Sidi Rezegh and the town itself, while the Trigh Capuzzo road had to be secured also. They quickly overran the airfield and tried to capture the road down towards Sidi Rezegh but were blocked by German guns and infantry.

On November 22nd, 1941, the airfield held by the 7th Armor Brigade and a support group prepared to attack the Germans on the ridge. Two german panzer divisions fel upon them. Th British tried to hold the airfield and attack the ridge. The 4th and 22th armor divisions joined the fray. It resulted in fiery and confused battles with German and British tanks rolling over the dust-clouded shooting at everything.
The following day the fighting over the airfield went on.

Rommel managed to defeat the Allied armor and attempted to link up with his cut -off defenses in the east. He nearly achieved a strategic victory. However losses caused him to withdraw from Cyrenaica.
