Historical Background:
On August 23rd, 1944, the Romanains have joined the Allies. Soviet forces were able to move fast though Romania, and reinforce the Romanian positions in Transylvania.

Hungary, while planning to join the Allies also, now saw the opportunity to reclaim lost lands during the unfair Treaty of Trianon in 1920. Southern Transylvania, which remained in Romanian hands since the Second Vienna Award, now its liberation was also the main target for the Hungarian operation. After reaching Arad, the 1st Tank Division under Lt. General József Heszlényi targeted the area of Ópálos, where they could stop the Soviet forces attacking towards inner Hungary.

The 2nd Romanian Infantry Battalion took place in the area, along with the 61st Heavy Artillery Section. The 1st Tank Division's infantrymen and tanks rushed for the railroad bridge over the anti-tank ditch outside of town. The initial attack was successful, but then Romanian resistance didn't enabled the Hungarians to enter Ópálos. The chance, to effectively resist against Soviet tanks has failed.

The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
