Historical Background:
After Berlin fell to the Red Army, and Soviet troops met American units at Torgau, Soviet commanders already began planning the Invasion of Western Germany. The Soviets did behave like real Allies, they've participated the Pacific War against Japan, and collaborated with the Western Powers.
However, Stalin gave orders after the capture of Manchuria to prepare for the invasion. 1st and 2nd Byelorussian Fronts have taken up positions between Magdeburg and the Baltic Sea, and were instructed to await further orders...

On May 27th, 1946, General Zhukov gave orders to initiate Operation Rheinland. Soviet units assaulted the border units of the British occupation forces, and they've immediately broken through. Hamburg fell in Soviet hands, so did Lubeck, but Allied reinforcements arrived, which have driven back the Soviets to the border. However, with the arrival of reinforcements for the Soviets, the Allies fell back to the Rhine.

The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you're in command. The rest would be history.
