Historical Background:
In the middle of January 1942 Paulus's 6th army was surrounded at Stalingrad by the Soviets. The German high command had to something about "the flower" of the Wehrmacht. They couldn't just let the "flower" fall into Soviet hands. So the Germans sent a large group of soldiers to releave the 6th army. This group consisted of over 1000 panzers, 200,000 men 200 guns and whole fleet of supply trucks. When the convoy reached a point in the road that forked the Germans realized they had walked into a trap. the soviets sprang up and a vicious battle ensued.the Germans retreated and called the mission off because of the heavy losses they sustained in the battle.
