Historical Background:
On June 6th 1944 the allies made a successful beach lading operation called Operation Overlord.
One of the 5 beaches that the allied commanders chose to land on was gold beach. It was the very middle beach between Juno and Omaha beach. If the allies did not take Gold the center of the invasion would be threatened.
On gold beach there were minimal defenses except for a strong point in Arromaches les Bains and a artillery bunker.
By 22:00 hours the British forces had advanced within 2 miles of Bayeux! It was a amazing victory
