Historical Background:
In March 1945, with the bulge caused by the German Ardennes Offensive effectively reduced, the U.S. 1st Army launched Operation Lumberjack. Designed to reach the west bank of the Rhine, U.S. troops quickly advanced on the cities of Cologne, Bonn, and Remagen. Aware that the Rhine posed the last major geographic obstacle to Allied troops, Hitler ordered the bridges over the river destroyed. On the morning of March 7th, lead elements of the US 9th Armored Division reached the heights overlooking the town of Remagen. Looking down at the Rhine they were stunned to see the Ludendorff bridge still standing.

Dubbed the "Miracle of Remagen" the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge opened the way for Allied troops to drive into the heart of Germany. Over 8,000 men crossed the bridge in the first 24 hours after its capture as engineers frantically worked to repair the span. Infuriated by its capture, Hitler swiftly ordered the trial and execution of the five officers assigned to its defense and destruction.

Briefing:
Allies: 6 Cards, you move first.
Axis: 5 Cards.

Conditions of Victory:
Allies: 7 medals or 5 medals + bridge hex objective.
Allies gain one temporary medal if they can occupy any of the bridge sections before they are both blown.(only 1 medal even if more than 1 bridge section is occupied.)

Axis: 7 Medals. Axis gains 3 medals once he has blown up both bridge hexes.

Special Rules:
Place badges on the Special force units for both sides.(Troops-2)
Place tank destroyer badge on the German unit.(Troops-24) It is only 3 figures.
Place heavy anti-tank gun on the German unit. (Troops-23)
German special forces armor has 4 figures.
Place engineer badge on U.S. units.(Troops-4)
Special weapons asset,late war, for the units equipped with a machine gun.(SWA-7)
Special weapons asset, late war, for the units equipped with an anti-tank gun. (SWA-5)

BLOWING BRIDGE SPECIAL RULE: Axis commander may use any center section card to attempt to blow bridge instead of activating any units. Roll 2 dice and a Star will blow a section of the bridge. Both sections must be blown for the Axis to gain 3 medals. If an Allied unit occupies any section of the bridge before it is blown the German commander loses the opportunity to blow that section as long as the Allied unit remains on it. He must start to blow the bridge sections closest to his baseline. The back blown section of bridge is replaced by a RR terrain hex. The front section is replaced by a river terrain hex. Do not draw 2 cards if Recon 1 card is used in an attempt to blow bridge.
