Historical Background:
After the setback of the Dornot bridgehead,General Irwin, commander of the 5th US Infantry Division, ordered to the 10th Inf Rgt to cross the Moselle river at Arnaville some kilometers below. This time, the operation was better prepared than in Dornot and a first wave of infantrymen crossed the river on assault boats. After that, while infantrymen engaged the battle against German soldiers on the wooden heights, US engineers built a pontoon bridge, under the cover of a smoke screen. In spite of several German counter-attacks on the bridgehead, US infantrymen kept the ground around Voisage farm, until they were reinforced. As in Omaha Beach in Normandy, the battle was tough but victory was for the strongest party on the ground. In the evening of 12th of September, after three days of fierce battle, US troops kept firmly the bridgehead.
The stage is set, the battle lines are drawn, and you are in command. The rest is history.
