It's OFFICIAL -- Blocking is PART of the game Thu, 25 September 2008 16:00
Read your e-mails from Days of Wonder regarding the new Dice Expansion game. I quote from Days of Wonder:

"In this expansion, players still attempt to complete their Destination Tickets and claim routes and block each other on the map."

WHAT??? Players attempt to block each other on the map? From Days of Wonder? But I hear all the time from people that blocking is cheating. For those of you that need an English lesson: "unfair" and "cheating" are synonyms.

I know this won't stop those hearty souls that believe that the game should be determined on the luck of which tickets are drawn, not on a strategic placement of resources to both make your route while making it difficult for your opponent to do the same, but at least those players can't say "Days of Wonder" doesn't say blocking is a legitimate strategy -- because NOW THEY DO!!!!!

Actually, you need the lesson. The top 10 synonyms for unfair are:

Unjust, inequitable, iniquitous, unwarranted, unmerited, undue, unreasonable, excessive, wrong, and undeserved.

And you can check the top five major reference sites if you need further help with the English language.

If you are going to be smart *bleep* at least try to be an educated and well informed smart *bleep*.

Now regarding the intent of your post, anyone that says blocking is cheating, unfair, unsporting or just plain bad form, seriously they need to get a life or find a new game to play. Because I am going to lay a block the second I think it will help me win the game. Which was the objective of the game based on all the rules that have read. And since I have bought every T2R game, including the card game (which I made my own rules for so it truly follows the board game), I am pretty sure I have read every rule.

From Encarta, the definition of cheat is:

intransitive verb to break the rules in a game, examination, or contest, in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage

So while, yes, it's not technically a synonym, it does mean to gain an unfair advantage.

Sorry for my misstep.

What a hypocrite this guy is. When he was blocked he used offensive language. This guy does not like to be beat.
What a duff

GB just because he says it is PART of the game does NOT mean he has to like it. Just thought I pass that thought along, since that might be where he is coming from.
