Hi all Pc Game Holders Smile

IMPORTANT:

U have to hold the pc game since its competition so u have to be able to open swiss games

Tournament modus operandi

4 groups of 6 Players - Best of 5 games (round robin)
Best 2 from each group qualify
Then 1/4 1/2 Final - Best of 7 games

Just some basic things (no need to set a pack or rules i think)

1) Registration ends 20/06/2009 or if when the 24 player limit is reached

2) Tournament starts 22/06/2009

3) The Round Robin games can be played at any order and you'll have 5 weeks to play them.

4) Games are always open.

5) Seeding will be made ELO (2player+Swiss Map)

6) Any problem setting up the game should be handled by pm and please save those pms. If we have any sort of problem the TD will decide(just one TD - TD KING)

7) I'll ask if anyone can be the TD just to rule the tournament since i'm also playing

Cool Groups will be handled by me. Scores should be sent to me via pm so i can update

9) Dont remember anything more that needs to be said.

probably I would play.
depends on schedule. But count me as in depending on format.
(I agree with note below in that I would play a KO tourney, not a league with schedule. And double elimination would be good.)


I see now this tournament is to be run in June/July. As such, I know my schedule for that time is quite busy and I would not be able to play any games until a few weeks after tournament is to start. Therefore, take my name off the list of participant.
(if you are stuck and do not get 24, then send me a pm, and I will see if I can play my first one by June 24th. Otherwise I am not available for a few weeks after June 24th.)

I agree with Zimo, that groups like in the League are probably not a good idea - without the incentive to advance to a higher group for the next season (as there may be no next season) it may be a bit boring to play in a lower group.

However I think single (or even double) elimination is not enough. It seems quite a number of people is looking forward to playing some competitive thing on the Swiss map, so I guess they all want to play more than 1 (or 2) matches.

If everyone who posted in this PM still wants to play we should have approx. 20 players. Probably we can get it to 24 with some late entries when the schedule is up.
Does this number sound familiar? (hello NC Smile )
So what about 4 groups of 6, playing round robin (with flexible time like in the League, just play your 5 matches any time during 5 defined weeks).
To avoid getting too long I suggest only best 2 of each group advance, QF (group winners play random runner ups like in NC), SF, Final.

What's a good time?
Overlapping with only the League would be no problem as both are flexible in timing.
But that chance has gone for now (unless we start yesterday Twisted Evil ) as League season 2 already overlaps with FED cup.
Overlapping with SPWC/EMC probably won't work (at least not in the first weeks).
So we have reached summertime.
Why not? With 5 weeks flexible timing for the RR I think it should be doable (anyone here who can take 5 weeks of vacation? Rolling Eyes Cool )
If we are not too strict with the timing of QF, SF, Final I think it will work and still complete before the start of NC.

If that sounds much too long in your ears, compare it with single and double elimination:
'NC-style': 8 weeks, 5 of them flexible
Single Elimination: 5 weeks not flexible (so it won't work in summer and probably take longer)
Double Elimination: 7 weeks not flexible (see above)

Alternative: Pack it all into one weekend, qualifying on Saturday (5 opponents, 7 games = 35 games - we all have played that amount on some days, haven't we? If that sounds too tough make it 5 games per match.), KO on Sunday.
May cost some participants who are not available on the given date, but may be fun and is fast.

Just my 2c, of course I'm happy with whatever Miguel wants to do.

when i said 4*4 we had 16 signed in

for me it looks great to set 24 players limit i'm sure we can get that done.
also i think we can overlap a bit, since this wont have any fix dates(you play as u want whenever u want as long as u complete the game with the total timeframe)

The tourney is only in June...until then my behaviour should have been re-evaluated...not allowing me now at this point of time seems to be nothing but arbitrary.

I am Captn of a GOF-team at the moment and can show my willingness to behave through this. Many players who play TTR play GOF as well. They should have a say here, too...if your decision is not based on pure sympathy, respective antipathy...

das waren Rücktritte wegen Meinungsverschiedenheiten bzgl. Spielstrategie, Spielfehlern (von mir) etc. Das sollte nicht wirklich zählen. Meine anderen Teammitglieder fanden den Schritt auch eher unverständlich von beuze.

In English: Beuze's decision not to play on the team was based on a discussion on playing strategy between us - including some playing mistakes I did during one of our games:

Selbst nach über 4000 Spielen, spiele ich mir hier manchmal noch einen ziemlichen Scheisendreck zusammen. Das liegt daran, dass man hinterher immer schlauer ist.
Außerdem ist gof nunmal ein Spiel mit einem nicht unerheblichen Glücksfaktor. Vielleicht war dies in euerer speziellen Spielsituation nicht so, aber allgemein kann man das wohl sagen.
Und wenn beuze meint, das Team - meiner Meinung nach aus klitzekleinen Gründen - verlassen zu müssen, dann ist das einzig und allein seine Entscheidung und sollte auf Deine Position als Team-Captain keinen Einfluss haben. In diesem Sinne

erstens kann jedem mal ein Fehler passieren und 2tens kann man eben nicht in die Karten eines mitspielers schauen...
und aus Fehlern kann muss sollte man lernen...
trotzdem werden sie immer wieder passieren....
und vor allem sollte man nicht vergessen
