So here's the counterpart

The Golden Raspberry 2009
Winners will be determined and honoured in Freiburg on Saturday, Feb 21st
Nomination is open for the following categories:

The Whining Razzie
Who was caught saying
'I am never allowed to start'
'I had so little locos'
'I always have crappy ticks'
'My opponent was so lucky'
...
(Disclaimer: I just can't stand the continuous wimpering any more - I do want the starting button and I do want world peace Laughing )

The Chicken Razzie
Who was caught
refusing certain opponents whom he considers underrated or against whom he has a bad streak
playing re after wins but not after losses

So you want all to accuse tops Very Happy ?
Because when players are good enough, you only lose because of luck Wink, so there is a reason!

Last week John Kucera became World Champion in Downhill Skiing, beating Didier Cuche by a minimal margin
becaue
*) he is an excellent skier
*) he mananged a superb performance in that race
*) the weather was better for #2 than for #20

3 deciding factors, one of them is simply luck.

Did anyone say 'crap, this guy was just lucky'?
Does Cuche say 'hey everyone, just letting you know, if I had had a better number I would be World Champion now'?
No, everyone congratulates the champion who deserves his title due to the other 2 factors.

And yes, I am accusing - not all, but a number of - tops, of not doing that in TTR.
('GRATS ... but ... I was never allowed to start' is polite but otherwise as good as 'get lost you lucky ...')

Right, Mr Bean Twisted Evil

@Rufuz: Take this post with a grain of salt
Despite my nick I don't consider myself being 'god' or 'judge', so I certainly don't want any PMs.
(I may deserve a nomination for the Big-Mouth Razzie instead Laughing )

The 'mentor' should rather be an Oscar, shouldn't it?

No, you are right ... Rolling Eyes
If Mr Bean hadn't taught you the game so well, I wouldn't have lost yesterday
So Razzie is OK for me Laughing

As far as I know, Razzie is negative price, so "winner" of Mentor Razzie would be worst mentor Razz

Great Thread Dea

I share the same feeling about players who have a frequent tendency to complain

Some thougts:
TTR is a game with a luck-factor. The Luck varies from time to time. The rating depends on both skill and luck. I don't think that you can make TTR free of Luck. Yes, you might be able to select the player who starts the game and take turns. But then........ there is allways the amount of locos, matching colours to complain about. So, let's face it, TTR is somewhat baseds on luck and statistically this luck changes.

Me, myself, I find luck a positive aspect that enhances the exitement. It helps you win against player with higher ratings and you may loose against someone with a lower. If you frequently play TTR and complain about luck, why continue? Why not change play chess or similiar

I agree Dea
('GRATS ... but ... I was never allowed to start' is polite but otherwise as good as 'get lost you lucky ...')[/quote]
It's polite in one way but maybe even more offensive than silence after beating an oponent. If you don`t get a "grats", at least you know that they are mad

Finally, I am glad that this post so far is taken with a grain of salt but nevertheless, spicy. I don't think actual nominations would do any good but hopefully this post will make the biggest complainer better loosers

So. Peace and Love.
have a wonderful weekend Smile Smile
