Maybe I am missing something, but is there any way in the program or on the Days of Wonder website to see how many Gold Ingots I have left, short of starting a scenario in Memoir '44 online?

Indeed a gripe I have too. I suggest adding a little counter to the infobox in the top right (the one that also has rank and played games).

Mad

And I'll add that the Pay-to-play was not very obvious. I played until I have 1 GI left before realizing I was wasting them on single player games trying to learn how to play.

It's doubtful I'll spend much money to play to have my ass kicked. And it costs me MORE to play against the computer?!

I'd HAPPILY buy a CD-ROM program like I did for Ticket to Ride (before you could download it) -- I might pay to play online, but I think paying to play against the AI is ridiculous.

I don't like this current plan. My biggest complaint is having to pay for AI play.

I'm not sure how you didn't realize it's a pay-to-play system...it is very clearly stated all over the place in the Memoir '44 Online documentation. I'm sorry to hear that you are out of GI, but I hope you'll consider buying the $8.00 pack to give yourself a chance at a real online experience against other players! It's a lot of fun to play against other people from these forums and it's not always a butt kicking! Smile

I know it's all over the place... now.

But I downloaded the software and tried it out. To DoW's credit, it's intuitive enough that I could play games without reading ANYTHING. Isn't that what many people want in software? To avoid reading manuals?

I've played Battlelore, so I didn't even read how the game works. I right clicked items on the board to learn everything I needed. And that's the way the software should work.

I think the game and interface are great. As I said I would HAPPILY buy the software as I did with TtR. And I might pay to play against online opponents. But paying double to play against the Ai, when it doesn't increase my stats as far as I can tell, seems stupid to me.

Playing against the AI let's newbs figure out the details of the game without being at the mercy of a seasoned general. And if the AI allowed offline play, as in TtR, you can play with a crappy Internet connection, which some people still have.

I get the pay-to-play idea, and support it against online player vs. player, but hope that:

1) paying to play against AI is dropped, and
2) offline AI play is added

That's my Open Beta feedback so far.

a little explanation about the cost of playing would be appreciated. last time I checked (starting up a game) I had a lot less Gold Ingots. I have no idea what playing a game is costing me. please enlighten us and program us a little purse somewhere, so we can see how much we can spend.

TIA

I also would like to know what number of gold ingots I have left (if any). I don't think that I have spent the original 100 on 14 games but if it is time to ante up it would be much easier if I knew it.
