Finally, they have arrived - here are Turbos tankfree expert scenarios Wed, 08 February 2012 21:06
Okay, so after creating over a half dozen scenarios of my own and running into difficulties all the time, none of them working as intended, I heeded the advice of several old SFTF gamers and revised them all, removing features not yet supported or not working properly at this moment.

As I noticed only now, unintentionally I created a bunch of maps concentrating on infantry actions, with an occasional gun here or there, but wholly without tanks. At least this applies to the scenarios I created over the last few days, after my two oldest projects proved to be the least functional maps of all. Maybe I can overhaul them in the future.

But for today, I present my first scenario to you: Operation Biting, the Raid on Bruneval. Feel free to tell me about your experiences and offer your advice on possible improvements. Enjoy and have fun!

Hi Turbo.
One of my favourite operations. The Parachute Regiments first Battle Honour.

Tried it tonight and really liked it. Some nice options such as ''to go for the radar, or not''?

I won as axis but only because the exit marker didnt work for the allies (easily fixed)

Having 'impassible hills' plastered over your beautiful map would not look nice but I was not 100% sure which hills next to beach you meant. There is 1x hill hex not next to the beach that was impassible ? You can check out the replay to get an idea which one.

One last point. As the allies were pouring down the road to the beach exit marker, I managed to roll a few flags against them, but it actually propelled them closer to the exit marker i.e. in the direction they intended to go. Not sure if that was your intention.

Anyway, my type of senario, look forward to playing it again. Thanks for posting it.

Had an err come up during play. The Night timer was on 5 but it still rolled and 2 stars came up and it crashed with an err. I had also played a Airpower card to get it out of my deck, since they dont work...not sure what happened, but did not work and had to dump the game.
Like the scenario, just very difficult for the Germans. Only 4 cards(and if they suck your screwed), and no elite, and most of your forces are hemmed in. Either in the woods or in the that bunker on the beach. Kind of a weird twist also with having the sides flip-flopped...the retreats play in favor for the allies cause they get to go closer to the beach and play more like an advance...lol.
I like it...just pretty hard. Smile

Thanks for your input! Let me comment on some of your points:

1.) The exit marker definitely works. Because it is placed on an Coastline (= Ocean) hex, the entering unit must start its move off the board from the exit hex itself (it must begin its turn already on this hex).

2.) I now changed all hills to impassable, so there no longer is any confusion.

3.) As you noticed, Allied units retreat to the beach and Axis units retreat inland. I decided to stick to this feature because it is historically correct and leads to some interesting tactical situations. The Allies may get nearer to the exit, but they may also be thrown into the jaws of the waiting Germans. For clarity, I added a relating text passage to the scenario description.

4.) To bolster the Axis player, I raised the number of his command cards to 5.

I hope that these changes prove to be helpful.

What do you think happened with the AP Card/Night rules dice roll?

I really don't know, I did not experience these problems. I doubt that they are related to anything I could change.

Air Power and Barrage can only be played when visibility is at 6...so that means you can't play them while it is still dark. As for way the game crashed when you two stars were rolled for the night chart, I have no idea. You should send a bug report to the DoW crew explaining what happened and include the log file of that game. Hopefully they should then be able to fix the problem. To send a bug report click here... http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/contact/sublevel/?entry_id=23 0 This page includes instructions on what to do.

Following the established practice, I have decided to rotate my scenarios on a regular basis. The next one is "Counter Attack on Engineer Hill", the final suicide charge of the Japanese defenders on Attu Island.

As always, feel free to voice your comments and suggestions.

The marshes on Counterattack do not work. Might need to use rice paddies instead.
