If this is the new expansion I am extremely disappointed. We already have a Normandy campaign and plenty of D-day scenarios. A campaign book for the Med/North Africa would have been much better.
Nothing official yet, so I am holding out hope that this is not it.

Considering that Memoir was created to commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-Day, this is the 10th anniversary of that (and the 70th anniversary of D-Day), and the game has always had such a strong connection to history, I'd bet that it became the inevitable choice for them.
As for other aspects of the new expansion, we have no idea whether there will also be new units, standard-size scenarios, or interesting new rules, too. And we have no idea of the price.
Until we know what the expansion actually consists of, may I suggest that expressions of disappointment are premature?
Personally, I'm excited at the first new expansion in a long time. I'm buying it.

Like I said , I am still holding out hope for a Med/NA campaign book or possibly an Italian army.
I have purchased every expansion to this point and unless they totally "Nuke the Fridge", I will be getting what they come out with this year.
I hope we hear something official soon.

It may be premature to express disappointment, given we have nothing solid to go on. But it is not premature to let DOW what we want and expect in what we hope is a significant expansion. Given the tenor of the secret messages from DOW released so far, while exciting, is really sort of annoying after about a week, I am a little concerned this expansion will interest only the aficionados (myself included of course, but I am fickle).
This release will determine for me whether DOW is really committed to expanding Memoir 44. I have more than enough scenarios to keep playing the game as it stands today and I love the game as is. But, given the lackluster hardware in the equipment expansion (the scenarios were great BTW) and dropping the battle maps idea (which would satisfy me quite a bit if they returned), I now expect something very significant to keep me spending money. After all, there are other great games I am playing now that have great expansions. So really it's whether DOW gets my games budget or Academy Games, GMT, or Zman Games etc. No skin off my ar... nose.

I'd like to see proper an complete Italian, Polish and French armies as well as Char B, Matilda II and IS 2 models which could be governed by the same rules Tigers do. Still find it strange only the Germans have a heavy tanks, whereas the other tanks I've just mebntioned certainly deserve the same description, albeit for the French and British ones only during the early years of the war.
But hey, I guess I will buy this expansion too as I won everything to date except for the bag.

Nothing prevents you from making your own scenarios with Char B, Mathilda II and IS 2, and use the tiger minis and rules to represent those units.

Agreed on the rules.
As for using the Tiger models to represent Char B's or Matildas, that's a bridge too far for me, hence the plea for actual minis (not that I wouldn't have them from other games, though).
I also refuse to use German halftracks, elefants, 88"s etc. for the Allies, Priests, Long Toms for the Germans etc. I just use the badges. The only unit from the equipment pack I somehow don't mind using for both sides is the cavalry. They look generic enough to my personal tastes.

6 different map who can be played together from 2 to 12 players or separately. I think they will be printed and they will use BT deck (on the pic that's the way it looks like). May be you can move unit out of your command zone to give some reinforcement to other team mates. If this is it I think it's great 'cause you can play 6 landing scenario in many ways and many people you want. PLUS I think BT format is so great in conquering strategic points.

A pack with 6 different breakthrough maps that can be played seperately, or all at once; if that is the expansion, I have concerns about being able to actually play a huge multi player game as seen in the picture.
First, how many sets of figures would be needed? I have doubles and that is all. How many breakthrough decks of cards would be needed? Again, I just have the one. Lastly, the space required to set up 6 side by side breakthrough maps would be a problem, IMHO.
On the plus side, IF all this speculation here in fact comes to be, it looks like all the hills in the picture are elevated, kinda like the plastic Art of Tactic hills, with a "topper" terrain tile placed on top. That would be neat to get hill pieces like that.

It would be cool if they had a 5 map Kursk or El-Alamein on the reverse side. More likely it will be Operation Cobra or Battle of the Bulge. I am warming up to the idea, we just need the official word.....game on!

As for the material needed to play a 12 player game of about 6 breakthrough maps next to each other: you have 12 players who must be familiar with the game, so if everyone brings their material, the problem is solved.
Finding the space to put such a large table is indeed a problem.

Why not just use the floor?! Clear the table out of there and look over the battlefield as it's laid out in front of you.
Added bonus: have the kids move the units so you can enjoy the unfolding beauty of the event!

Although a mega Normandy would be very welcome, I cannot imagine that this would be the Big Anniversary Surprise that dow has for their fans. Whatever it is, I'll be happy with it. The hope is for an expansion, but really any thing is okay.
But after this long drought I would like to hear from the developers what the plans for the future are. As a fan and completionist Im eager to know if new expansions can be expected.

For figures, my first thought was to draft the units from other expansions. 2 Allies + 2 Axis + 2 Russian + 2 Japanese + 2 British + a little help from Equipment Pack might suffice (if you're as much of a "purist" as I am).
Then, it occurred to me that we can use little poker chips, as they do in Axis & Allies.
Cards are a little trickier. 1 BT deck + 1 OL deck + 2 standard decks will get you through 4 boards. After all, we all used standard decks before the BT deck came along.
Space requirement? You'll need to buy a House Expansion. (Personally, I'd play it on the floor, as Ras suggested.)

I'd rather dig out my old D-Day game by Avalon Hill and suffer through that than play a Memoir game that size. My tolerance stops at about two breakthrough boards.

I've got little chits in my old Avalon Hill games. Seriously, what's the point unless used at a convention? At least it will have no widespread use.

Well, indeed, it is out of the bag and the D-Day Landings are no longer a secret!! Being the owner of just the original game and playing mostly online, still appreciative of all the work that went into this new expansion and once again bringing to life one of the most MEMOIRable battles in history.
Hopefully will have the opportunity to experience this expansion somehow and enjoy it one at a time or all at once.
Once again, thank you ALL for your efforts and hard work.

Looks impressive .. although I don't have a room big enough for all six boards to be out at the same time!
I have a few questions ..
What are the Troop tokens for Supported Infantry and Supported Armor exactly? Anyone know?
Also .. There is no mention of any sets of cards with this expansion (or even one set)
I wonder how many sets of cards are req'd for each board used?
And which cards will it use ?
From the website:
At least one original copy of Memoir'44 is required to play, as well as the Terrain Pack, Equipment Pack and Winter Wars expansions. (The Mediterranean Theater expansion is also recommended, though not required).
More copies of the base game or expansions are required if you want to play a Double, Triple or Six Map battle.
So an extra Base game per board?
For troop supply presumably?
How many decks of cards (and of which variety I wonder), per board used?
I don't really know THAT many players a)who would be available to play AND b) who would be able to contribute towards the pieces, sadly
I can still see me buying this, even tho I will probably only ever crack out the individual maps, one at a time I suspect, in reality.
It's a great idea, but it does seem to lean more toward exhibition/tournament use, or for those involved in clubs rather than kitchen/dining table users, (especially if you're looking to play with Double, Triple (or more) boards at a time.

Finally glad to see a new expansion. DOW always does a great job with Memoir'44 and I am sure this will be no expection. I have lots of thoughts and would love to get people's thoughts.
1. I own two of everything (expect Campaign books and battlemaps). Do people think with two base sets, two of each of the army packs and two overlords (chits) I could fill up all six maps?
2. I own two of the breakthrough kits and winter wars.
A. Will two BT decks be enough?
B. How are these boards different in size from the BT boards. I have purchased. I know these are preprinted.
3. Given that these boards are preprinted, why is the terrain pack a necessary expansion?
4. Are airplanes (and thus the Airpack expansion) something that comes into play? If this is a stupid question from a newbie on WW2 history I apologize.
5. $35 dollars for 6 boards and extras seems very cheap. Wasnt the BT expansion (with 2 maps) not much cheaper?
Would love to get your thoughts. As always I think that DOW rewards the hardcore M44 fan. This clearly does it. Also it might be an expansion to spur a whole new group of M44 players. Would I have liked other scenarios, besides more D-DAY ones? Yes but I am excited nevertheless.

That's easy to tell, the Breakthrough maps are 13x17 and the new Landing maps are 13x23.

I would guess that you need one German and one Allied set for each map, so that would be six German, three US and three British (I don't know if additional troops will be needed for reinforcements).

With 288 hexes, each Landing map is even larger than the Market Garden Overlord battle map. All six together ("Operation Neptune") would amount to a dizzying 1728 hexes.
