CLAIMING TO DOW ABOUT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL :

Kenneth started 2nd game, opponent made 10 turns (6 black, 6 green, 3 to Phoe, 5 white, 4 pink, 5 red, 4 blue, 6 orange, 3 to SSM, 2 to New Orleans to finish), playing 44 cards, so taking cards 20 turns. Total : 30 turns.
Kenneth made 9 turns (5 black, 6 grey, 6 white, 4 grey, 6 yellow, 4 green, 4 red, 2 to Ltr, 3 geen to NO), playing 40 cards and had only 2 cards in hand, so taking cards 19 turns. Total 28 turns, playing the first and the last in that game.

There is so 3 missing turns for Kenneth in this game (6 vanished cards)

IN EVERY CASE, PICKING OF LOCOS OPEN CAN'T EXPLAIN THE HOLDING OF THE GAME

So there is a problem, and not only one mistake from anyone at the table since it concern AT LEAST 4 cards, or 2 turns.

By seeing this, we can wonder also about the first game which was surprising too with the same problem of speed.

But DOW was so afraid of cheating in a online preliminary tournament that I assume all precautions were taken for the fnal tournament. And I assume DOW can explain what happened in this final ? I hope you didn't give such a prize without checking all was ok before, during and after the game at the table ?

I'm not interested in the price, I'm not a friend of Kenneth, I simply love equity and justice. And I'm sure final (at least second game) wasn't fair.
I really hope you will be able to find and explain what happened.

true. Live streaming I realized that at some point erwin tried to play twice in a row. Drake, obviously tired, did not notice. The referee has stopped him. But honestly I have not checked other times because I was busy with my daughter.
One thing struck me as odd.

I have seen almost all of the direct final part.
Erwin in semifinal play against the Belgian
At some point the frame from behind and the game was almost over.
Erwin had 5 locomotives. Shocked Shocked
I have now played 8000 games online and find at the end of the match in a match 2 vs 2 with 5 locomotives is nearly impossible.
I fear that we are not talking about a good player but a cheater.

Frank. Tip: open the boxes and check the locomotives. If you are more or less than 14 .... do yourself questions ....

My experience playing on board is very low...just a couple of games in 2006 when i started playing TTR.
So when I played the pool in Cannes and the French final in Paris I felt a little bit lost with all cards in hand.
IMHO, one of 2 things happened:

1- Erwin took more than 2 cards in 1 or 2 turns (very easy - even if not on purpose);
2- Erwin played 2 turns in a row (I remember of being always asking whose turn was, especially if you were focused on your cards)

For the locos at the end : it is possible to have this, really not a proof
For number of cards in boxes : I asked that this morning to Mr Phal from TricTrac, but I don't know who have the boxes.

Erwin has posted an explanation of what (he claims) happened. Until someone else gives a more accurate translation, I'll share what I got out of Google Translate below. Apparently although he conceded he took cards he shouldn't have (thus it was not a valid game), he still went to a lawyer to see if he could keep the prize!

http://bordspeler.nl/2014/11/05/vergissen-is-menselijk/
Quote:

After one and a half week DoW contacted me. I received by e-mail told I was disqualified because I had played more cards than possible. In the attached tournament rules clearly stated that, if traced that an error has been made, played wrong or cheated, DoW has the right to the prize still not rich.

The finale was filmed, where to see that during the 2nd match is I've caught (accidentally) cards from the table that are not mine. Although no one has noticed this when, for DoW is sufficient reason not to post the price (a holiday). I have the situation with a lawyer submitted, but they gave to the tournament rules of the organizer to have no chance. Predefined They simply reserve the right to not give the price.

As you can understand, hopefully this was for me many friends, family and acquaintances the talk of the day in the final period. I have since it is on camera that I've caught the wrong cards and the organization really wanted back the trophy consent. I did it at home anyway be no longer remembered, and huge bag that I do not get the price. The final took place after 8 jars Ticket to Ride, and I was pretty tired. We also played a best out of three. I had won the first round and the incident took place. During the 2nd match Even if I had lost, I could probably win the 3rd.

Re:September 27th - Follow the Ticket to Ride World Championship (Live)! Thu, 06 November 2014 09:35
as promised here a "human" translation of the article:

So another Erwin (Broens, apparently a board game player) gives his opinion (title: forgetfulness is human) on the tone of DoW in their press release, based on the following report (summary) from Erwin Pauëlsen:

“After the tournament the final was criticised on the forum of DoW using photographs of the result of the 2nd match in the final. At TTR you can calculate back. On the board one can see exactly how many turns a player used.

After 1.5 weeks DoW contacted me. Through e-mail I heard I was disqualified, since I played more cards than possible. In the attached tournament rules it clearly stated that “if an error can be traced, or (in)advertently rules are not abided [by the winner], DoW has the right to [pick the next one].”

The final is on film, on which one can see that I (inadvertently) took cards from the table which did not belong to me. Despite no one noticed then, it provided DoW with sufficient reasons not to give [me] the price (a holiday). I asked a lawyer, but she stated the pre-defined rules of the organisation would render a case useless. They simply have the right not to give the price.

As you hopefully can understand, this was a hot topic lately for me, friends, family and relatives. Since [the error] is on camera and the organisation wanted to have the trophey back, I agreed. I didn’t want to be reminded at home, and I am very frustrated I don’t get the price. The final took place after 8 games of TTR, after which I was pretty tired. It was a best-of-three. I won the first [match] and the incident occurred during the second match. Even in case I would have lost it, I may have won the 3rd.”

Then the other Erwin continues:

Reading through this, in combination with the press release of DoW and the comments on the forum of the publisher, it gives me a picture of an incompetent tournament organisation which wants to hide their referee incapability by reacting very harsh to a silly mistake. Don’t get me wrong, for such a mistake you should lose that particular game. But it should have been recognised and dealt with at that moment, at which one – possibly after discussing with his opponent – could have appropriately assessed Erwin’s intentions. If at that point they would have interpreted this as a silly mistake [and not more than that], they may even have been able to finish the final.

Based on the requirements mentioned by Erwin the organisation had the right to withdraw the price. But having seen Erwin’s story I start to doubt if the language used in the press release of DoW was morally justifiable.

Thanks Jac.

DoW took their decision about last game, but in Erwin's previous games there were really strange things too.

I agree with the other Erwin that it would have been better to react during the tournament, but I think that if all games had been more watched Erwin Pauelsen wouldn't have reached the final.

Thanks for the translation Jac. This really whets my appetite to see the video of the game now though. Pauelsen admits he "took cards from the table which did not belong to me" and concedes it is clear in the video.

Still unclear in my mind is exactly where how/he got these cards. Knock's calculations are that he had either 4 or 6 extra cards (it's ambiguous to me which). Were all the extra cards acquired in the same "accident" or did he keep making the same "mistake" repeatedly?
