Mystery SF Badge? Tue, 01 August 2017 16:38
My tokens and badges have become mixed up over the years, and I have been using the roll call sheets to get them all back into their correct boxes. One of my Terrain Packs is lacking an Italian Elite/ Chinese NF SF badge, while I have a spare Rangers/US Combat Eng SF badge. I can't actually find any game/expansion/pack that actually has a Rangers/US Com Eng SF badge in it.

Have I missed something or have I got a rogue SF badge? Confused

Winter Wars has two of them.
I hope this helps.

Thankyou, it certainly does! Outstanding sir! It is missing that SF badge. I never even considered WW's. I don't think I've ever used a badge from it. Very Happy

I kept all of my sets apart for a long time but recently decided that it's easier to just have them all in one container and look through for the badges I need.

The one area that I was really careful about were the Mines because I wanted to maintain the distribution and power of the mines for each theater. However, I've become more relaxed about that as well because I kind of like the idea that in any given battle there could be all 4s and 3s for a mine field.

I kind of like the mines being a dangerous place that players want to avoid. I think it all came to a head when I was playing against a good friend who determined that his chances were pretty good he wouldn't run into any powerful mines and just walked right through a mine field one time without pause.

How does everyone else handle the mines these days?

I use your original idea of keeping the mines from a particular set. So if battles are Med or East Front for example, I keep the mine proportions in those packs. Otherwise I use the Terrain Pack mines.

I have mixed the Mines of all my packs in the same box (easier to handle and I like play Overlord or Breakthrough maps which requires very often more mines that each theater proposes).

As Rasmussens writes, minefields are some places to avoid and I find fun to get the risk to discover a 4 dices mine if I'm obliged to cross them, whatever the theater of the map

I believe a level 4 mine is always a risk, whichever method is used?

Yes, but in some theaters the odds of getting a 0 or 1 are much higher! And the chances of getting a 4 are very small for some...

True. It's all down to personal taste.

Yep, and in the end it's all about having fun. Just make sure to tell your opponent what the possible Mines are so they have a sense of how dangerous the mine field can be. Razz

I have all of my badges, and minefields separated into this container (the base set is in it's original box). Here are the ones for the MT, PT, and EF:

And here are the ones for the TP, AP, CB1, CB2, DD, and WW;

(Since this photo was taken, DD and CB2 came out. They are in this container as well).

I keep all my tokens in these convenient labelled PLANO boxes. They are separated individually by expansion and then again Round Tokens vs. Other Items. When I am using the Minefields from a particular expansion, I just take the mine tokens from that section of storage. When finished they just go back in storage from where they came. No muss - no fuss!

Almost all players I know of have their mines chucked together.

But we use this overview of what goes in what front normally:

So in the winter you should not encounter a 4-strength minefield according to M44. Cool

Crickey, that is light. the average mine strength in all the other sets is roughly the same, but WW is nowhere near! less than half the weakest other pack.

Eastern Front = 1.8 per counter.
Terrain Pack and Pacific Theatre = 1.6 per counter.
Med Theatre = 1.5 per counter.
Winter Wars = 0.6 per counter.

If you combine them all you get 1.45 per counter.

So all the individual packs, apart from WW, are stronger than the combined mines,

I have them separated for a few reasons, the weak set of WW should surely be its own thing. I also don't like combining because I can see which pack they are from (for example, the Japanese have no text on them). Lastly, I like it when I can count that all the decoys are revealed etc. Of course, I understand if some prefer to not know what are the chances of popping a certain number.

Yes, I don't like to mix mine (pun intended) because I like the ones on Japanese Territory not to have German Text. Surprised Surprised Surprised Surprised
