Reprint Series 1 Maps, Urban Combat Cards, and Complete Summary Card Set? Tue, 21 May 2019 01:50

I posted this in a Board Game Geek forum on the subject, but I thought I would post it here also in hopes that Days of Wonder/Asmodee might take notice:

I’d like to add my vote for a reprint of the Series 1 Battle Maps! If the large printed maps, along with the Urban Combat deck from Sword of Stalingrad and especially a Complete Revised set of Summary Cards were printed in a “Deluxe Edition” similar to D-Day Landings, to coincide VE Day and VJ Day, both coming up next year, I think it would do very well.

If a reprint were to include what is probably the most requested Memoir ’44 item – a Complete, Revised Set of Summary Cards – I’m sure DOW would have a best seller on their hands.

There has been a resurgence of interest in Maps with the issue of Series 2. There also appears to be increased interest in the Combat Deck concept (including suggestions on how to adapt them to regular scenarios) with the issue of 2 new decks in the Through Jungle and Desert Map.

There are many people who have come to Memoir ’44 after the first map series went out of print who may have one, two or maybe three of the combat decks, but who would like to complete the set with the Urban Combat Cards from Sword of Stalingrad.

And there are those, like my daughter and Son in Law who have become huge Memoir ’44 fans and have some of the currently available expansions, who not only don’t have any of the series 1 maps, but also don’t have any summary cards except for the few from the base game.

Even those of us, like myself, who have managed to acquire most all the previous expansions and maps, don’t have a full set of summary cards because some of them have never been issued. I know that most of the cards are available in digital form online and supposedly there is a phone app that will let you select which cards you need for a scenario; but the charm of Memoir ’44 is that it is a Board Game. And when playing a board game, you shouldn’t have to spend your time looking at your phone.

For the bean counters at Asmodee: most all the design work has already been done, and reprinting paper should be less expensive than creating new minis, etc, which should help keep production costs down. And the inclusion of a Full Set of Summary Cards would be just the hook needed to ensure brisk sales.

I really think the inclusion of the Urban Combat Cards and a full set of Revised Summary Cards along with the Battle Maps would make this a sure seller. Even though I already have the original maps, the cards alone would make it worth buying one, or probably two sets. And my daughter and her husband (and more like them) who don’t have any, would be eager to buy a set also.

I agree... Would also like to see repent of the older battle maps as well.

I don't want to sound too negative, but I'm not too keen on buying something that has all these things I already own to get the missing few items.

I got Tiger figures from Equipment Pack, which was really nice since I couldn't get "Tigers in the Snow" in time. I would not have bought EP if it only had Patrol Cars, Supply Trucks, Half-Tracks and Tigers.
