Tour Tickets: Direct Route Required? Fri, 05 August 2016 18:20
In the Rails & Sails - World instructions, it says for the Tour Tickets:
"with the correct route in the exact order"
Does that mean the one specific route or can there be a middle man between them? For example, if the first 2 cities in the tour were City 1 & City 2, would the following be valid:

City 1 -> City X -> City 2

It goes from City 1 to City 2 in that order, just using multiple routes. But it does not pass through the other cities in the tour, so the final set of routes would be:

City 1
City X
City 2
City 3
City 4
City 5

instead of:

City 1
City 2
City 3
City 4
City 5

I think that Tour Tickets are a great idea, but I also think that the fact that they can be stopped by another player claiming just a single route (if you are not allowed to insert middle man routes) could make the tours a little bit too hard. But my most important question is whether middle man routes are allowed?

Hello...

Just picture it this way:
If at the end of the game, you can trace the cities in order (1 to 2 to 3...) by following only trains/boats of your color, you score the highest points, no matter if you use other cities to do so.
If all the cities on the ticket are linked but you cannot trace the cities in order, you score the lowest positive value
But if you're missing one of the cities on the Destination Ticket you lose the points on the right...

Hope this helps...

So as long as you can get from all of the cities on the ticket to all of the others on the ticket it is good for the tour points?

I was just confused by the phrase "exactly as shown on the card", because the card includes lines, so does "exactly" mean using those routes, or just that order (using each route no more than once)? I am definitely looking forward to this, but I guarantee that the Tour Tickets will be the most confusing part for most people.

This lets you score the lower positive value.
Again, to score the highest points, you need to be able to start one the city #1 then reach the other ones in the order listed.

The "exactly as shown on the card" means it has to be in that order, but it doesn't have to follow the exact path. For example, if you need to jump over to get a city for a different route that isn't on the list, you can do that, as long as you can still follow the path in order...

I hope this helps.

Hello Everybody! Still have misunderstanding what means "with the correct route in the exact order"?
It is discussed here that exact route means that you can start in the city 1 and rich al cities following your vagons. At the same time it doesn't mean that we need to connect the cities in the exact order on time scale.
E.g. if i have a ticket: Tibran (1)-labore (2)-Mumbai (3) -Bangkok (4). To get the highest points what do I need to do?
Option 1 - I need to have direct connections between all cities ano no other intermediate cities (detour) and at the same time I need to build first way between city 1 and 2, then way between city 2 nd 3 and finally between city 3 and 4 which means that i can't start with way city 3-city 4.
Option 2: I should have direct connections between all the cities, whatever the order of building wiil be but no other intermediate cities.
OPtion 3: I should buil the way ensuring that i can start at city 1 and finish at city 4 and it doesn't matter in which order on time scale I will connect all the cities and whcih cities will be in between.
Please help to understand. Mad

Option 3 is the closest one. To get the higher number of points, you have to be able to trace through the cities in the right order. To get the lower number of points, the order doesn't matter. See if this helps:

To get the higher points, I must have it in the right order. It never matters whcih cities will be in between.

However Could please somebody from Days of Wonder confirm this?
I would like to have an official opinion because we could not agree on the interpretation of rules with friends Mad

I took my answer directly from Franck who is a Days of Wonder employee, so this is an official answer. Have fun!
