Overlord on Vassal, this Saturday, 28 November

Hi, folks --
This Saturday, November 28, let's get a group together on Vassal -- and play Overlord in the desert. It's the anniversary of Operation Crusader, and LooneyLlama created a great-looking map of it.
Lots of armor (happy Tanksgiving!), some supported infantry and supported armor, a Command Car, halftrack resupply, and Desert Combat cards.
Saturday, 28 November:
> 1pm Eastern time (New York)
> 7pm France, Belgium, Netherlands, etc.
> The rest of you can figure it out from there.
Please log in 10 minutes early to make sure your connection is working. We'll use version 10.14 of the Memoir module. The current version of Vassal is 3.4.10.

I was looking over the scenario yesterday, and noted that it included New Flight Plan help cards. Will we be playing with the New Flight Plan rules and planes in this Overlord?

There are two Operation Crusader Overlords in Vassal. We will be playing LooneyLlama's. It says Desert Combat cards are optional, and both sides roll 1d on Air Power, but I don't see any mention of NFP. (We will NOT use planes. We will use Desert Combat cards.)
There is a second scenario by that name, composed by someone else, that has old Air rules and an ME-109 on the airfield. We're not playing that one.

OK, I found Looney Llama's scenario. It certainly looks more interesting than the other one. I also discovered why I could not find it at first--it is misclassified as an Eastern Front scenario, and one of the filters that I was using was for the Mediterranean Theater.

When I'm CIC, I like the Axis (driving around in the command car  )

Well, that was quite a battle!
Axis CinC-Cpl_Uhl
Right-bdgza ... Center-Quit2 ... Left-sam1812
Allied CinC-gonzoj
Left-JAParker ... Center-gonzoj ... Right-Zalamence
Until the very end, almost all of the battling happened on the two flanks. The Command Car nestled itself on the seam between Axis Left and Center, giving me several extra orders during the battle. The Brits had great difficulty killing off the defenders in the objective towns at far left and far right. Axis gained a 5-3 lead on our 6th turn, thanks to killing two of three 1-fig Armors, and we led at the end of every turn after that.
Allied 9th turn was a Finest Hour with 4 orders on each flank and two tanks in the center. They got 4 kills, for a brief 10-9 lead -- and it might have been worse if my tank hadn't Pulled Back. In response, Italian engineers took the machine gun town in the top left corner, I wasted 6 dice on a trapped British tank before it Pulled Back, and then my 1-fig infantry with double-barreled Blazing Guns advanced from the medal town and finished off a 1-fig tank.
Excellent command and play by all participants.
9 turns, Axis won, 12-10 medals, 43-47 figures.

Sam, thank you for the organisation and the participants for the team play and the resistance of the opponents  . It was one of the Vassal overlords that I appreciate more and that was because we kept it going (not much down time).
