Why China? Wed, 13 January 2021 17:18
Hello,

I recently played the game Ticket to Ride. It was super fun, and I really enjoyed the game. I'm wondering why Days of Wonder manufactures the game in China?

Why can't you make the game where the majority of the players are? Is the game popular in China? I don' believe so since there are no forums in Chinese.

As an American company, I believe you should support the people who play your games and produce them in America. I'm sure there are lots of companies with the capability to print and manufacture them.

Manufacture in America and Buy American.

All the Best,

Amy Hilberg

They sell globally (with games in multiple languages) not just in America.
And it would be the same reason why anyone chooses to manufacture overseas, it's cheaper to produce for them and cheaper for the buyer.
Apart from living in the US I don't see what benefit it would offer other countries having it manufactured there but it would be more expensive for one.

Adding to that: Days of Wonder was a French-American company when it started and has been bought by ASmodee that is French.

It is true that it's french now, but didn't know it was made in China, especially that there are people in Eastern Europe countries part of the EU, that are eager to find a job and would work nearly for free compared to people in France and with nearly no taxes. And there's not so big technology behind it. And they do play TTR in those countries. Poland even has its own version. Would be also nice to have an Austrian and Hungarian Empire Version.
