Yes Memoir 44 is a slow game, slower than it used to be since the Beta days. In a 30 minute game I expect to spend 20 minutes staring at a screen waiting.

Yeah, pretty much. I am a quick player in my opinion. However, there are time lags and delays out with the players control.

Luckily, something like what happened to tank commander never happened to me. Players without much experience may have wrong expectations about match duration, though. A situation like that can be irritating, but it's not too serious, in my opinion.
About the gaming pace, I wouldn't consider myself a slow player (I've been accused of that only once, by gamer who revealed himself a total void of principles), but occasionally I admit I may drag things a bit too long, mostly when my young son comes nagging around. I very much welcome a "Cof-cof, could you please speed things up?.." at such occasions. Nothing wrong with being honest and clear about issues that trouble us, provided people don't put in a rude manner.

The length of the game is relative.
Yesterday Brigadier Jeronimon and I played the match and rematch at Twin Villages. The first battle took an enthralling 37 minutes and the rematch a mere 31 minutes. These were close fought 6-5, 6-4 battles and the battles seemed to play quickly.
I was surprised at the length of the battles 32, and 31 turns respectively. Tight games with a lot of tactical play due to poorish cards and dice kept the games interesting. Both games were close entering the last turn 5-5, 4-4 so that interest and opportunity was high right to the end.
