Definitely looked good - definitely the scenarios are a nice touch.
Not to influence your storyline and due to the lack "storm the castle" scenarios, that 1st scenario is definitely intriguing and would be interested to hear the feedback on it. (i.e. how fair it is to both sides, etc)

Today our website is undergoing a revision as we are moving the different components to different pages, helping us beter control the content.
We are also anouncing the upcoming (unofficial) Army Cards for battlelore. These colorfull cards will help you pick armies and keep track of special abilities.
The (unofficial) Napoleonic Version is starting to take good shape as more and more French units are unveiled. The rules adaptions can be downloaded from the site as can all released army cards.
Check it all out out the site www.battlelorecamp.page.tl

Hi all,
For everyone following this thread: the rules for field leaders have been updated.Note that they are slightly different for the 'normal' battlelore game as for our Napoleon War version.
Check them out.

Great site!
I'm particularly interested because I'm toying with the idea of using Battlelore as the TTG part of a board game-TTG mash up of the Lord of the Rings.
My plan is to use FF's War of the Ring as a campaign map and Battelore as the accompanying TTG to sim the various battles... but I'm digressing.
Modeling doesn't have to be a priority to enjoy a game - thats for sure - but I was attracted to Battlelore because of how good it looked as well as it being a good game.
How are you modeling the Giant Eagles on your board?
Do you have any recommendations for fantasy figs that seem to work well with the Battlelore figs/scale/board?
PS - I'm crossing my fingers and hoping Elves are next as an expansion then I only have to aquire individual creatures like Ents, Giant Spiders, etc.
PSS - sorry if this detours your thread too much, LMK if it does and I'll start up a different discussion.

Hi Felix Phantasm,
I'm using warmaster Giant eagles to represent the giant eagles of Battlelore that we have put on our site.
This seems to work as far as scale and 'look' go.
For fantasy figures, I know that there is a nice 1/72th scale that offers orcs, undead, elves,...in plastic at affordable prices.
I don't remember exactly what producers did it, but it was an exotic name (maybe Zvezda or something like that). I'll check it out next time I'm at my local store.
Best regards,
Silverwings

Silverwings schrieb am Fri, 25 January 2008 11:22 | Your are right, Roobarb, as usual
But nevertheless they are worth looking at. On the board, the difference is actualy not that big.
We are using 1/72th scale for our Napoleonics and ths works fine.
I must admit thoug that battlelore carries fine figures. They are among the best I've seen in that scale or 1/72th scale.
We also use 1/72th for playing commands and colours now.

Firstly congratulations and many thanks for all the work that is being done to extend Battlelore particularly to the Napoleonic era.
I have a question regarding scale. As the Napoleonic set is an entirely new set I can see that the 1/72 scale works very well particularly with the wide range of models out there. My query relates to the additional medieval units eg noble knights knights of the holy grail etc - as the original battlelore soldiers are 15mm are you thinking of replacing them with 1/72 figures which are around 23-24mm to align with the newer units or from your experience can they be integrated together.
Many thanks and keep up the great work!
Jim
PS If there is anybody from around Dublin reading this and interested in playing please message me.

Hi Jim,
We do indeed use 1/72th figures to play the Napoleonic Version as they are affordable and have a good quality.
For additional figures for the regular Battlelore games, we also use this scale. The difference in size actually only shows in the human army, as Dwarves and goblins are a different actual size anyway.
It would, however, be possible to change all figures to 1/72th using the regular figures availbale at that scale and adding figures from War of the Ring etc. There is also at least 1 producer of 1/72th dwarves, undead, orcs, wood elves etc. I found this one (after a long search) on th plastic soldier review site.
The figures of Battlelore have a good quality, so usually we prefer to play with the fantasy stuff from Battlelore and just add our own 1/72th knights to the battle. This also gives more variety and more distinction between say a Teutonic army and a French Army.
I hope this answers your questions.
Kind regards,
Silverwings

Hi Silverwings,
Many thanks for getting back to me and once again great work on the Battlelore projects.
As you say the Battlelore figures are well sculpted so adding 1/72 for new units seems the way to go.
Just a couple of other questions please: have you any advice for printing off the new command cards the artwork on them is great but am I right in thinking they are of different sizes?
Finally can we expect some Austrian units on the field of battle sometime in the future!
Regards
Jim

Hi Jim,
The command cards on he site are jpegs taht you can download into a map. I would suggest using a program like mmicrosoft publisher or even word to make pages with these pictures in order to print entire pages at once.
Like this you can scale them as you see fit. I usualy fit 9 cards on 1 page.
The Austrians are actualy finished. I have them in our rulebook (around 80 pages by now). If you like, send me your mailaddress and I will mail the complete set in .pdf format.
They will be ntroduced piece by piece on the website also, as will the Turks and some minor countries.
Cheers,
Silverwings

Sorry to trouble you Silverwings just a couple of small clarifications regarding French Infantry;
French light infantry have three figures to reflect their vulnerability - I was just wondering does that apply to all light units eg Voltigeurs etc or just the light infantry itself.
Can I just check one other small thing;
French Voltigeurs attack 1\2\2
French Light Infantry attack 2\2\1
Is this as intended?
I hope you don't mind me bothering you with these clarifications as I go through the units- I have some soldiers on order so I am very much looking forward to trying the rules out.
Regards
Jim

Hi Jim,
Yes, this is right. Normal light infantry has 2/2/1 while Voltigeurs are actualy sharpshooters at longer range, so they have 1/2/2.
The light infantry has only 3 figures while voltigeurs have 4.
Voltigeurs also have 2 special abilities that allow tem to retreat from enemy fire and to count the first hit as a flag instead. They are very good troops when used in the right way (skirmishing and disrupting enemy lines). Do not use them as the blunt of your attack, as they are not made for that.
Cheers,
Tom
PS: I've just send you the full manual in pdf. It is in 2 parts as the total is 91 pages (rules and all army lists together).
If anyone else wants a copy, just send your email to me)
