Expansions I would buy Wed, 14 November 2007 17:08
I am relatively new battlelore player with a limited budget. I already have CtoA, Goblin Marauders, and HYW and can't really justify spending much more on one game. The expansions that I have are great, but I have no plans to buy the other goblin or either dwarf expansion. I wanted to give some feedback on expansions I would like to see and would buy.

1. The heroes expansion sounds great. I heard it's probably not coming out until march but I will buy it.

2. A creatures expansion. The more I play with creatures the more I find that they are one of the most interesting parts of the game. They also seem to really differentiate the game from the other C&C games. I would like to see an expansion which adds a number of new creatures including, of course, the dragon.

3. A book of scenarios. I would love to see a book of official scenarios which includes a campaign.

4. This is the least likely, but I would love to see a set of simple rules and map for a larger scope strategy game where the battles are played out with battlelore.

Anyway, if anyone has any other ideas, please post.

Isn't that what 'Mighty Empires' (is that its name?) does for Warhammer? Some sort of overland campaign map tiles would be neat.

About expansions I'd probably buy whatever goes out, even pillow fighting rules or mailmen battalions, but what I am most eagerly expecting are heroes and creatures.

I´d buy a painting guide that comes with all the paint and stuff you need to start painting the miniatures.

Having never painted any miniatures before, a complete set with everything you need would definitely help me get started...

Yea i must admit that i have been thinking about getting mighty empires to use with battlelore. I would love it if DOW came up with a similar expansion and made it easily transportable as i would much rather give them money then GW.

Roobarb, I think Diaper is referring to what one NEEDS to paint properly for Battlelore vs HOW to paint.

I would like to see continued growth in the historical expansions maybe even up to the Renassaince period. Muskets and Cannons anyone? I am also a fan of 30 Years War period which would work well with this system.

Plus some other items for a castle type siege...since this is fantasy and there is usually some castle involved in some stories!

Still waiting for The Game World & someother races
so BL can fill its promised potential.

My group has shelved BL(although we continue to purchase
expansions-hope springs eternal Rolling Eyes )as without a
World Setting it just ain't got no soul.

How about a Dragon?

This would be along the lines of the Hill Giant and Earth Elemental promotional figures (which I guess are no longer available).

Imagine a fabulous looking red-bannered dragon, that can strafe enemy units all across the board (think of the new Air rules in Memoir 44), and then hit units even harder when it's on the ground (4 dice or so). And maybe we could even have archers shooting at it while it's in the air!

Any new creatures would be welcome, but I think this game definitely needs a classic fire-breathing dragon.

How about it Eric?

I'm actually hoping there is no "dragon" per se, since I think it would make the other creatures "weak" compare to it. As much as I like fantasy and all, I'm hoping a dragon would be way down the list of items that DoW does for BL.

As for the other 2 creatures - yes they are out of print and thus you can either buy a figure that is close to what it should look like and then print out the lair/creature cards (via the various posts here in the forum). Or you can get the true version of the item via Ebay..but they aren't cheap. The Hill Giants has been 30+ and EE in the 20-30 range
