Question abour Lore points Sun, 09 December 2007 19:09
Hi Mates

how do I get Lore points?
Two per turn/ a card and one lore point / etc?

We did a bigger game and there were just too few lore points.
Does one get lore points for a rolled Lore-symbol too?
Does Epic battlelore get more Lorepoints?

thank you
Mike

At the end of your turn, you may take:

a) 2 Lore tokens
b) 1 Lore token & 1 Lore Card
c) 2 Lore cards, look at them, and keep only 1

Throughout the game, you may collect Lore tokens everytime it is rolled and not being used for some other function (i.e. you can't use the spider's poison and collect lore on the same roll).

You get 1 Lore token for killing a creature.

You can get Lore tokens from special Lore cards.

In Epic, I think you are actually restricted in that you cannot collect Lore when it is rolled during ranged attack (but may still collect in melee as normal).

Between rolls and the end of turn collection, you should maybe get around 3 lore tokens on average each turn.

Does that mean when I roll a Lore on the dice in Melee I get a lore-token each time it is rolled? Twisted Evil do I understand that right? Twisted Evil

thank you
Mike

You do, yes. In Epic and Base games one collects lore on melee combat rolls (unless through a lore card or unit abilities that lore has some other action). Just to be clear, in the base game ranged attacks that roll lore also collect lore (again, unless the unit itself or a lore card state otherwise).

In general the effect of collecting lore on what in the medieval adventures would be a miss has a dampening effect on "luck" in the game. I really appreciate this affect Very Happy

One other change in Epic from the Base game: If Assault is played, no lore will be collected by the Commander who played it (opponent will still collect on any lore rolled during possible battle backs). No chance to have the card pay for itself Wink

I would add that one has to be careful on ranged attacks when it is not a normal base unit (archer, crossbow) on whether if one gets lore or not.

Since most (but not all) of the ranged units in the expansions don't allow one to obtain lore when rolled. If memory serves, I think only the Sling units allow for lore. All other expansion ranged type units (long bow, arbalests, etc) don't allow for it - and that is as of this writing (Before the release of Scottish War expansion)

In regards to Spieler390699 question about more lore for Epic - yes you do get more lore in Epic games. In the expansion you get 19 more lore tokens added to the base lore tokens.

Your welcome - was surprised everyone else missed that last question of yours - but talked about the other 2.
