40K conversion Tue, 11 December 2007 10:16

Hi guys,
I'm toying with the idea of a 28mm Battlelore set with Warhammer 40K miniatures. I tried with the Warhammer miniatures, wich seems a more logival choice, but the "look" of 4 single pieces doesn't really stand for a regiment, while the squad approach of 40k makes the 4 men in a hex far more enjoyable. I plan to mix M44 and Battlelore and write a set of rules, probably with handmade cards (I did the same some months ago for a Battle Cry variant for the Crimean War)and all of the bits, like trenches, terrain and so on.
I'm building 2 army and my choice would be Imperial Guard and Necrons to start things off.
Did someone tried it already? Do you have any clues for the rules? Should the Kaserkin be bold? Or maybe the Necrons (basically they are undead, so maybe that's appropriate)? Every suggestion is welcome.

Did you follow up on this idea? Or was it just a blank?

Hi Silverwings (BTW thanks for sending me your napoleonic rules in PDF format). Yes, I'm still following the idea, I'm gathering the images for the cards and painting some Sisters of Battle. Necron army and Imperial Guard are now painted and ready to battle. In the meanwhile I have completed the 3D settings and played some really inspiring games with 28mm Warhammer models using the standard Battlelore rules. The board looks very pleasing in this scale and if you or some other forum reader is interested, I have posted pics on the Yahoo group

There are fantastic pics in this group. My images are in the Photos section in the folder "Battlelore WH 28mm".
I hope you like my job.

Anyway, if you have suggestions and ideas for a 40K rule set, they are of course very welcome, we could share part of the job Laughing .

Hi Pantao,

I have a system that converts warhammer fantasy battle to the battlelore game.

However, I am not sure if I can put it online as it clearly uses warhammer pictures and Battlelore rules.

I'm afraid I will get into trouble for using their pictures in this way. Although I am in no way trying to make any money out of it. Just purely putting my Warhammer figures to use.

Best regards,

Silverwings

Hi Pantao,

Can you send me an email-address where I can send a file to?

I have made a couple of 40K army cards to show to you.

They are in the same style we use for our Napoleon Wars adaption for Battlelore (and the samestyle I use for my Warhammer Fantasy Battle addaption).

Best regards,

Silverwings

I'll send you the files straight away.

They are realy just sketches of a first try.

You will immediately recognize the cards we've made (in the Napoleon Wars style).

I have made just 6 now with Space Marine tactical, assault and devastator squads and Imperial guard, sentinel and rough ride regiments.

Basically, I do not see any reason why you couldn't use the Epic figures for this system. Some argue that epic looks better, some think 40K looks better in way of figure size - battlelore size.

Both are possible.

Cheers,

Silverwings

Hi Silverwings, you can use the same address where you sent the nappy rules: pantao@alice.it. I will be glad to have a look. I'm working on my cards using Adobe Indesign, and I have a complete set of cards, same composition as Battlelore, and dice stickers all in napoleonic style for a Waterloo Project. They're finished, ready to print and in pdf. If you wish to have a look I'll send the file to you.

Maimed, I have some old epic figures too, but 28mm is really a blast when you put your space marine squad in a hex! You have to build a new gaming board slightly larger, but it's cheap and easy. I did and I can finally use my Blood Ravens Very Happy

Hi Pantao,

I'll send them to you as soon as I get back in my office.

I worked on a page with some basic ideas, although I have yet to playtest them.

If you have any files to send, please do: tom_haesendonckx@hotmail.com

Cheers,

Silverwings
