Desert Armies Mon, 22 September 2008 06:42
I've look at some of Brummbar's pictures of armor and I'm starting to get excited about the upcoming Mediterranian Expansion! I've decided to paint some of my tanks in desert colors and to bust out my 8th Army figures and my Afrika Corps guys and paint them up to get ready! Very Happy Cool

Does anyone have advice or pictures to share for color schemes, inspiration, guidance, etc? Rolling Eyes

Thanks everyone, and keep playing!!

Well, I have started a little reference area on my User Page for the Med. Expansion. Smile

So far the only thing I have in there is a link to pictures I found that relate to North Africa and the units involved in that conflict.

I'll eventually add some links to useful sites, a list of helpful books on that part of the war, and maybe some maps of the battles. We'll see. Rolling Eyes

Is nobody else going to post anything about the North African Campaign, The Afrika Corps, or The Desert Rats? Confused

OK, I'll do it! Very Happy Laughing

You can find some very cool links on my User Page that deal with the whole North Africa Campaign. So far my favorite one is the BBC animated map of El Alamein. Take a look.

Hey, Rass another good site to find information on WW2 battles, play online WW2 games, ect. is http://worldwartwozone.com/
You will find other M44 players there, pictures from WW2 and just a lot of WW2 content. I highly recommend it. Laughing

Thanks for the head's up, 50th. Anyone else out there have anything to share? Roobarb, I know you have some amazing Brits that you've painted. I'm going to be working on my Desert Rats soon and could use some inspiration. Cool

I just wanted to let everyone know that I finished reading an amazing book about when the Germans stalled the Allied advance through Italy along the Gustov line. It was all about the different battles near Monte Cassino and was really interesting!Surprised

I designed several historical scenarios based on my reading and using other resources. You can find them on my User Page and some information in my Projects section about Italy. See what you think. Cool

I would love to somehow link them all together in a campaign that you can play, one battle leading to the next, but I don't know how that would work exactly, so I'll keep thinking about it. Have fun everyone. Very Happy

I have looked at Flames of War. They have some nice colour schemes for soldiers and tanks. You will find German tanks from Africa Korps as well.
