Vassal Extensions Wed, 24 September 2008 00:22
Do I need to download any extension other than Memoir44v7_ext? It looks like everything is in this (East, Brumbarr, etc.) folder that I need to play but I'd like to be sure.

I think Malcolm has all the expansions in the base game now (with the exception of Overlord). The extensions that are there (if any) are leftovers from the previous version of the game (sans Air Pack).

One reminder to new players of Vassal that Brummbar pointed out earlier but if worth saying again... Smile

You can only play vassal for the Extensions you own! Otherwise it's infrigement of copyright laws. So if you plan on playing all of the extensions, you need to buy them first. Cool

Have fun!

Also go to this link which has explanation on how to download.

Like the folks above said, if you don't own the game, you shouldn't be playing the game on Vassal.

I don't believe Malcolm has ALL the extensions in the correct place yet (i.e. don't think they are all in one file yet - could be wrong).

I had an 'discussion' with someone on BGG about Vassal requirements ... and it never really got agreed upon.

My view is that as long as one person owns copies of all the relevant game and expansions then you should be fine - after all it is just the same as me coming over to your house to play you with game and all expansions and you own none of them. And I think that the argument would apply for a any player-number games - two, four, eight whatever.

Just like both of you don't need to own the game in face to face games, only 1 person of the two needs to own the expansions as far as the agreements outlined in vassal are concerned.

I had the same thoughts about this matter... I've thougt too that if someone come to my house to play he has not to own that game too..and so in the same way in vassal it's necessary that one only people own the game and the expansions used in the scenario.
