Campaign Book annoucement Mon, 15 December 2008 17:01
Just thought I let everyone know that DoW annouced a campaign book on the web site yesterday. Definitely looks promising with 50 scenarios and 3 campaigns.

And as someone noted on the website, it says Volume 1. Perhaps there are other volumes in the works as well!

http://blog.daysofwonder.com/en/

Too bad we have to wait another 2 months for it! Sure would be nice to know how the campaign rules work - hint hint Eric!

Cab
p.s. corrected message to reflect total scenarios..my bad.

Actually there are over 50 new scenarios...not 30. Details, I know, but important details! Cool Shoot, Stevens beat me to it!

Make one typo and everyone is on it.

Blame it on the weather..it's NEGATIVE this morning here in Denver...broke the record from 1901. Went to -30 this morning...so yeah it's BITTER cold! Smile

We're just here to keep everyone honest and do our best to not discourage those who would complain cause it's ONLY 30 scenarios.

Hope you have a warm place to stay today. Thanks for the news!

Smart- Now your quick editing makes it look like I don't know what I'm talking about - very very clever. Embarassed

Is there a typo on the image that gives a peak at the Barbarossa campaign(?):

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/content/cb1_inside/

Looks like playing one scenario in a campaign leads to two possible follow-up scenarios, either one if Axis wins and another if Allies win.

However, all scenario "cards" are labeled "Allies Win".

I suppose the red arrow leads to the next scenario to play if the Axis wins and green leads to next scenario if Allies win. Otherwise, this progression doesn't make much sense to me.

Okay, maybe there is not a typo on that page I mentioned above. I suppose there are also "Axis Wins" blurbs that are just not shown.

Anyway, looks like a step towards what some of us were asking for recently. Great!

I have a feeling that the Allies and Axis have their own "campaign sheet" on separate pages, with individual briefings, number of reserve tokens, etc. Each sheet says what happens when you win the scenario, but shows which scenario to play even if you lost the last game.

Re:Campaign Book annoucement Mon, 15 December 2008 19:32
Didn't even see that nice link for what the book/campaigns look like. Since I don't think that link exists on the blog page (oops, I guess so, didn't see the link under the picture..duh!)

But if you go to that page, it says 51 campaigns. Gee, it keeps growing. So maybe by the time February comes around there will be more? (I know that won't happen, but hey one can hope!)

Definitely does look impressive :
- Advanced campaign rules
- 3 Theatres of operation
- 12 different campaigns
- 51 new scenarios
- 9 new summary cards (Yeah!!)
- 4 new badges
- 26 round tokens
- 5 obstacles

And even though it does say other expansions are required, hopefully Eric or someone would break it down as to roughly how many scenarios require which expansions.

Sgt Storm - As for it saying Allies win, it might be if you are looking at this aspect. You play the scenario and IF the Allies win, that text applies. Note that at the bottom it says "play XXX next" and the green arrow seems to indicate that scenario.

All the Scenarios are standard (ie non Overlord) scenarios, and all 51 scenarios in the book are new releases.

There are a few more scenarios that are an integral part of some of the campaigns and which have already been released, but these are NOT included in the count of 51 printed in the book (and these scenarios not in the book ARE in the previously released supplements or base game required to play a given campaign).

Caboose, I can't begin to imagine -30 degrees, but by all accounts the temperature dipped to -50 at times during the battle for Moscow. You might try playing all Barbarossa winter board scenarios outdoors for that added touch of authenticity - and send us a picture! Smile

No joke -30. Pretty sad when the state of Alaska is warmer than your own state!! Very nasty cold. Lots of car batteries didn't want to start...

And here is something you probably never heard. Earlier tonight..the temperature drop to -5. And now it's getting warmer..yes even in the middle of the night..up to 5 above by sunrise. Whoa..heat wave!! LOL

I think I'll wait before doing that picture...Cab

We had a 4.7 earthshake this morning 06:22 in Denmark.
Actually it was in Sweden but we felt it 100km away in Denmark!
No damage done, but we are not used to this stuff, so people ran out of their houses.

But it's good news about the Campaign book!!!

So far there has been no reports about people getting hurt or killed in the earthquake, but a turtle lost it's life when the shakes made a wardrobe tilt on top of the poor turtle!!! Confused

An excellent idea. This system seemed to be itchin' for this kind of treatment. I can't wait.

Btw, did anyone notice the mortar units in that pic? Very Happy Anyone know how those are going to work?

I thought it said somewhere that it fires like infantry, but doesn't require LOS. And you can either move it or fire but not both.

Mortar

- Fires like the infantry unit it equips
- May only move or battle
- Ignores line of sight and terrain protections

SOLD.

This is an immediate purchase. It's EXACTLY what I was hoping to see. More than new figures or boards or any of that.

SOLD.

(I hope the campaign rules are good)
