The more you play the more you'll learn how to avoid blocking. Anyway blocking is always a strategy... it can make you mad but it's a strategy

I suggest you take up Solitaire. Otherwise complaining about something that is not only legal but actually encouraged if you want to win consistently is simply a waste of time and bandwidth.

Actually: did you think about it? There may very well be a correlation between blocking and reaching 1500+ Cool !!

The persons who block the new players (I'm not) who begins to learn to play : it's not fair play and these last ones don't like. If they want to block : the may create their own game or play against good players.

Moreover, some people block in the last turns when they know that they aren't be able to win ! They deserve just the pity : poor players.

I'm not opposed to block players, but there are limits. If you block all "1100-1350 points" players to reach your 1500 points, you are a coward ! Over all if it made in the last turns. I hope that you don't reach 1500+ with this method.

I prefer to loose 7 points against a "1200+ points" player rather than to block him/her to not to loose them . Cool To win, yes ! But not at any price !

No, no ! I never wonder why i'm not among the best players. I know the reasons. And I don't wish to be among the best players. I'm like your father : too old for that !

I never know how people are ranked. I play everyone the same. Good luck with the no blocking.

You might want to just play and have fun and dont worry about your rank.

then I put Atl-nash and Nash-raleigh.

he could block me at Mont-bost (even if i had 3 blue). But there was a big discussion between us. Maybe, he decided to stop to block me. The game has been cancelled, but i would win at 90%.

Safety: You do realize that every time you update your "blocker list," 3 people immediately write posts to mock you?

Saying that blocking is unfair is like saying that it's unfair to play defense in basketball. TTR is won by scoring more pts than your opponent. Sometimes, this means having to prevent your opponent from scoring. If I have lousy tickets, and it is obvious that my opponent has Sea-Ny, what am I supposed to do? Sit back and let him win the game?

Re:Blocker list Sat, 04 April 2009 07:01
Sol,

I believe Safety has a bit of a point. There are people who don't like to play the pure orignal game and at least Safety has been really reasonable about it. His complaint is not with blocking per se, but with someone who blocks after they enter his game with the title No Blocking (or something similar).

True, that type of game is not the pure game envisioned by the creators but it is a valid variation of the game just as Tix Fiend or snake or Tag is. I'd be ticked off if I created a tix fiend game, everyone came in knowing what the rules are and then someone deliberately broke them. At least with those variations you are able to see from the start whether someone will honor the "variation rules" or not.

Safety at least acknowledges that blocking is legal and that it isn't unethical. He just likes to play a different way for now. I think it's ok to add people to his list that enter a non blocking game and then who do indeed block.

He's complaining about Liars, not so much about blockers.

The game was listed as "No Blocking" and the guy who started it goes and makes a poor scoring move to block.

Me also. How long have you not to play against 1300- players at 4 ? To my mind an eternity. Try and block all 1200- players in a game at 4. At the end of the day, sure that you'll have a plenty of friends Rolling Eyes

Exactly. Moreover, we must add the bad players (or loosers ?). Because they are naturally blocked, so they block the others players. Here is an example :

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/3710/kdoub.jpg

kdoub : boston-montreal, then Winni-Helena, then Portland-SF.
Therefore, i blocked him(her) at Duluth-Chicago and Helena-SLCity.

At the next game, there was Max_Fool, me, then Ocean. When Ocean saw us Shocked : she left the game before the games begins. Confused

Hmm. The initial post in the thread -- which is the one you keep updating -- only lists blockers. It doesn't say anything about the list being for people who say "no blocking" and then block anyhow. I would agree that, if someone does this, it isn't very sporting.

As for those who block after being "naturally blocked," I don't really see how that's bad sportsmanship. If you can't make your own tickets, you've got to figure out a way to win -- and blocking the other guy seems like a pretty good strategy.
