Stiff Upper Lip in Normandy Campaign Fri, 15 May 2009 21:21
I apologize if someone has asked this before - I checked the first few pages and couldn't find it.

Should the Allies be using Stiff Upper Lip in the campaigns centered around British Empire troops? (I believe that would be all of them except The Breakout). It wasn't mentioned in the campaign notes nor in any of the scenario notes in the campaign book.

That's a good question and one that would have to be answered by Brummbar. Razz

When I played it I did not include the Stuff Upper Lip rule because it wasn't mentioned, but I can see how it makes sense to include.

I think it isn`t included since the Normandy campaign is intended to be playable with the basegame only.

Brummbär have to answer if he has tought about including it or not.

But as long as both players agree, I see no reason why you can`t include it.

My vote would be for "Yes". You still play the IJA rules whether you're fighting a Burma or Guadalcanal scenario so the theatre shouldn't matter. The rules represent a national characteristic / tactic.

Excelletn point. I was wondering the same thing. Since it is a national characteristic it could be included in any scenario involving the brits. Might make an interesting twist in the landing scenarios. And I think any rule can be used in any scenario, as long as both parties agree. That's the beauty of this game system.

The one thing to watch for is a special rule that might throw off the balance of a scenario. I don' think the Stiff Upper Lip rule will throw things off very much, but it's something to keep in mind. Rolling Eyes Cool

Could be used as a balancing mechanism, e.g. if the Brit player is less experienced.

It's certain the campaigns were tested without it.
