The 1st M44 French Open, it was..... Wed, 13 May 2009 10:09
...unforgetable.

This unique moment of playing has made the happiness of all players (french, belgium but russians too...) who came for this Championship.

We hope that for the next Open (in Spring 2010), severals anglo-saxon players will come in order to defend the colors of their flag.

We will be so enjoy to receive a delagation of canadian, american and english players.

You can find photographies report with this link :

I was following it on the French forum, and it sounds like it was a great experience for everybody. It would be wonderful for Americans like me, except for the cost and days of travel. No chance of people being able to participate via the Internet?

Do you suppose the folks at DOW would be interested in a "1st M44 World Open" played online, when the computer version comes out?

It seems to have been in Tours which is probably Eurostar-able from the UK. I used to drive StMalo - Vannes off the ferry but Tours looks a bit far by car. Of course my French may not be up to playing M44 in any case. (Dual language card deck anyone? I guess the pictures are the same though).

Sorry, The 1st French Open was in TOURS, in the Loire Valley, by one hour by train (TGV) from Paris and two hours by car...

For the foreigns players (Russians), The 1st french Open had used english cards for playing. The Rules Staff of Open had thought about that...

It will be the same for the 2nd Open. We wait the coming of foreigns players more than the 1st Open.

Best regards,

Lafayette

Well if Normandy is going to be battlefield place for the 2010 M44 tournament, I think I can make it. It’s not too far from Flanders. So, since JAZZ and I are from the same home town that would be two Flemish Belgians already and I’m pretty sure I can convince some more guys from our club to come along. Yeah you can count me in…

My wife has given me permission to participate if I don`t tell anyone we know why I`m going to France.
She don`t think our friends are ready to hear that I am travelling to France to play with small plastic soldiers. Smile

What is so wrong about doing that, I can always tell them Longbearder travelled all the way from Russia, and that's even further.

It's not to play with little plastic soldiers. It's to match wits with smart, strategic-thinking people.

Waiting for you, Guys !
Lafayette, the M44 Open staff and the DoW team were perfect and we had very much pleasure in participating...
I hope that Sergey (Longbearder) will come back next year and many people from the rest of the world (I know that it's a little bit expensive but as I did this year, we (french M44 community) can host people from foreign countries)...
See you next year in Normandy !
Cool
PS : sorry for my bad english...
