meaning of Advance in Campaign book Sat, 08 August 2009 05:56
hi guys,
in Normandy campaign, a roll of FLG+STR for the Allies in the reserve rolls meaning advance any one of your unit up to 2 hexes, so does this mean advance 2 hex to the front, or simply move 2 hexes to anywhere on the map ?

thanks a lot

I would have thought in the spirit of the campaign that advance means towards the enemy. The emphasis is on the Allies to break out of the beach head and a strategic forward / agressive move would override any local tactical advantage on the board.

At least that's how I would play it. Smile

I would agree that when you advance you have two hexes to choose from: the ones that move you toward your opponent's side of the board. I think of it as the reverse of having to retreat. Cool

Especially if you're playing the Soviets. As Joe Stalin said: "In the Soviet army it takes more courage to retreat than advance." Very Happy
