Yom Kippur War Scenario Thu, 10 December 2009 18:07
Are there ways to import images into the Memoir '44 Editor to make things like Israeli and Egyptian and other nations' flags and Special Forces badges?
Also, where are the Special Forces badges in the Editor? Couldn't find 'em...
I ask because I was playing around with the Editor and made up a hypothetical engagement from the Yom Kippur War in 1971. I say "hypothetical" because I was just doodling around with my old copy of Avalon Hill's "Arab-Israeli Wars" and blatantly stole most of the data from a scenario in there.
Basically I wanted a "blitz" assault to capture the Suez Canal under a very short time constraint. I think we'll start with four medals and lengthen it a bit at a time, depending on game play.
Using Paint to make Suez Canal terrain tiles killed an hour or so; it was also kind of a hoot to use Russian vs. Allied troop icons (all those Soviet tanks on the Arab side).
Unfortunately, I can't publish it because of the "custom art" I made for it and then pasted up in a Word document. It looks nice enough at my end but it's not publishable via the Editor.
Which is probably just as well; I really doubt it's even remotely balanced, but what the heck, it looks like fun.

No way that I know of to add custom art to the editor...

To find the badges place a unit on the board then right click it, you'll see a menu item for badges. Pick the one you are looking for... Also note that if a badge is not listed you'll need to add the expansion that it appeared in. The Terrain Pack had a large number of badges. Hope this helps.

I actually requested that such things should be made possible -- but I've given up looking to see if my proposals (which can be submitted via the editor) have even been considered.

I quote: "To help scenario designers conform to the standards introduced in the Air Pack scenario booklet, and on all the pages that contain lists of scenarios, we are standardizing the list of Operations. If you need an Operation that is not listed in the Memoir ' 44 Editor, you may use this page to submit the Operation name you need. We review the submissions on a regular basis, and accept or refuse them."

"Regular basis" my #$@?! The following has been there, apparently unlooked at, for MONTHS!

Pending Operations that you submited:
Operation "Other" to allow for Indo-China etc SirKirby
Operation "Other" to allow for Indo-China etc SirKirby
Operation Not Operation but "Side" and "Front" = "Other" for same reason SirKirby
