I have played Pavlov's House solo, and I say it can be played solo,
BUT
there are things that make it strange.
At least 3 of the cards are played on the other players turn: Ambuscade, Out Of Ammo, Fall Back are the once I remember.
Some cards are cards that can turn the tide, (1 card allows 3 German tanks to ignore terrain movement restrictions)
But if you find that you manage fine with Memoir solo, you can play with the Combat deck.

I've been playing memoir solo for 1 and a half year, so it shouldn't be a problem.
But just like at Ambush, sometimes I found it difficult to attack and to react to it with Ambush at the same time. Hope it will be a very enjoyable experience to battle in Stalingrad with the new combat deck! (DoW began shipping to Romania in 2010! )

P.S. Of course I know that this is a present for all Memoir players in South-Eastern Europe, so have fun!

Of course it was for you, nemesszili. They heard that you couldn't get the Sword of Stalingrad expansion!
I'm happy for all of the players in South-Eastern Europe!

Is there a way that you could post your solo rules. That sounds like a good way to check out homemade scenarios, of which I like to create WWII battles. Also a good way just to spend an afternoon.
thanks

I often play solo (base game and Ovlerlord) and one way to avoid forgetting that you have the Ambush card or others than can be played out of turn in your "opponent's" hand is to lie it / them against the card holders rather than stand them up. This acts as a reminder and in Overlord you often have a choice of which Close Combats to play them against.
Like all solo games you have to be honest with yourself about playing cards but it can be done and it's not too difficult to play two seperate sides if you have a strategy and physically change your position at the board with each turn!

Wow, you actually move to the other side of the table each turn! By the end of the game you must be tired...or I'm just lazy. I just set the cards up in front of me in their own card holders and play each side the best I can.

Exercise and boardgaming at the same time. I thought that could only happen with Pitchcar. Playing it with two cars each gets you even more exercise.

My rule for solo play is simple (just like Achtung Panzer's):
Just play the best card for the current situation, and always seek opportunities for victory.
Also, I'm doing exercises while playing - I'm playing on the floor of my room. While getting up and moving to the opposite side, an 'aerial view' of the battlefield really helps you to decide what to do next turn.
Scenarios on Vassal could be viewed just like battles set up on the floor, and this is a great help for both commanders.
Have fun!

Why not take it further and adopt two personalities? Try wearing different hats too - it all adds to the realism!

One more question - just received my order and played MG - what do you suggest? Shall I play a one-board scenario with Combat Cards, or shall I play straight an OL battle with Combat Cards?

You should have no problem playing the Overlord scenarios with Combat Cards as the first play with the Combat Cards.
No need to play the standard sized Pavlov's House scenario to learn to play with Combat cards first. But it is a good scenario, so be sure to try it out.
