Will the Vassal plug be pulled when M44online go's active???
Vassal has no AI, and crude graphics, But you can still play by email.
Have not heard if M44online will have any email cap???
I would hate to see it go away... it makes a great gateway to a better product.
Think of it as free advertising?

i guess the ability to save a game and continue later can be a valuable feature in M44 online. This will enable players to simulate the PBEM method, just like in ACTS, where people login and play, and opponent will login and resume his turn.

That sounds helpful (especially if, when I save my move this morning, you can open up my updated version of the game tonight).
But Vassal is set up for the Eastern, Pacific, Mediterranean, Terrain Pack, Air Pack, and Overlord expansions, and the first two Battlemaps.
Last I heard, the official online version is only set up for scenarios from the basic kit, and it was stated that the expansions' rules would require additional programming.
I'm looking forward to the official version, but I hope players won't be forced to take a big step backward in variety.
I've seen Eric's statement from early June on BGG (four months ago) that "once Memoir '44 Online 1.0 ships, Memoir play on Vassal will be discontinued." Hopefully, that won't happen until an ample number of scenarios is available online.

All I can say for now is I wouldn't worry too much about this. We'll try to act reasonably, inasmuch as we can.

Memoir Online will only have stuff from the basic set? No air rules, etc...?

Only the basic game to start with...but DoW will be working hard to roll out expansions! Don't you worry, Air Rules and other exciting things will be available eventually...
While you're waiting, you'll be able to enjoy just about every rule, unit, and terrain in your games by playing the Expert Mode version where the rules aren't enforced by the program. Don't get sad too fast!

Does that mean we can mod our house rules?

rasmussen81 schrieb am Thu, 21 October 2010 10:42 | That's exactly what it means! You'll be able to have units move further than normal (maybe you've created a house rule for Recon units) or have units roll more dice than normal (Heavy Tanks or such). It will also allow you to play battles that you've created with the scenario editor! How cool will it be to playtest a scenario with a friend from across the world?!!

OLEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
You got it folks!
That's what makes Memoir 44 the Nr.1!
House rules!
Thanks!
For being a Beta tester what should I do?
