Their Finest Hour record? Sat, 04 December 2010 14:41
I played a 20 turn Saverne Gap scenario as the Allies which I lost 4 (17 figs) to 5 ( 34 figs).

My German opponent played four TFHs - yes four(and no Allied COUNTERATTACK in sight)!!! Not only that, of the TFH 16 rolls, he got 8 Inf rolls, 2 tank rolls and two star rolls - a total of 13 orders Shocked

The topper is on the turn before he played his 4th TFH, I had a chance to win. I targeted a 1 fig infantry with 2 shots - whiff.

In my nearly 800 games I cannot recall that ever happening to me.

In our rematch of the same scenario, I as the Germans drew TFH -- thinking turnabout is fair play my 4 rolls got to order a single panzer Sad

Today i played overlord and my opponent got 3 orders out of 12 possible , on the counterattack i got 9 orders and continued on to win Dieppe as allies.
TFH can be heaven or hell.

I've had equally useless rolls while playing real games.... Rolling Eyes But I've played a lot more Online games in a much shorter period of time so I remember the bad TFH rolls from the online game more easily.

I do remember rolling 3 Flags, 2 Grenades and 1 Tank in one battle. I would have been able to order a tank unit...except that my wife had just eliminated my last Armor unit the turn before! Mad Laughing She loved that!! Smile

I rolled 5 INF and 1 ARM on TFH during Arnheim versus Brummbar online, but those 6 attacks gave me about 2% hits Crying or Very Sad

I saw my opponent play a TFH, he get 6 Command Cards but rolled 7 dice(online, bug)!! 3 stars, 2 infantries, 1 flag and grenede. Thanks to the good luck, when he smashed out my tank with rolling 3 grenedes, other rolls all get missed.

I had five cards once and rolled FIVE FLAGS. I think they should have been surrender flags.

Sorry if this was answered elsewhere, but after a one hour useless search on BGG and on the M44 forums, I realized the I've better things to do with my time and decided to post the question here. So: if Their Finest Hour orders nothing (no unit symbols, no stars, only grenades and flags rolled), is the turn effectively lost?

Your wife plays Memoir?! I am jealous! I played one game with my wife before we got married, and she won't play any of "those war games" with me anymore!

Shocked Shocked

By the way, in yesterday's game of Utah Beach D-Day Landings, I played as Axis and got TFH twice, and I had five command cards and rolled and only got one infantry and one armor activation out of it! (see D-Day Landings:Impressions for pics & summary)

Mad

My wife and I play Memoir-44 every weekend, she is my chief opponent. She wins about 45-50% of the time. Her tactics are unorthodox, but if it works, more power to her.

Re:Their Finest Hour record? Sun, 21 February 2016 09:01
Yesterday DDB73 and myself played our league match face to face in Melle near Gent in Belgium.

In Game 2 Frederik played TFH, then he reshuffled and I cut the cards and had my turn.

In his next turn he played TFH again!

Again he shuffled I cut the cards and had my turn.

And well by now you guessed it, he played a 3th time TFH , so the rest is history on how that match ended for me Rolling Eyes

I had this 1 time myself on Vassal so we doubted if there was something wrong with the software, then I was told there is a chance it can happen.

Yesterday there was no software involved and I know Frederik is a fair player and did not have cards up his sleeve Laughing

Anyway I wonder if someone had 4 TFH in a row and not with Counter attack cards included.

I believe the odds are 60 x 60 x 60 , 1 chance in 216000 it happens, winning the lottery is more difficult.

Hi JJAZ, I know it's easy to confuse the two brothers, but you play Diederik not Frederik. Laughing

Indeed, and Diederik it was. Very Happy
Johan, people might start thinking I let my games play by Frederik... Confused that would be something to witness in the next week of the COOL => DDB73 against Vercingetorix1302 would be Frederik playing Frederik. Cool Laughing

Anyway, without witnessing it I would have had a hard time believing it myself.

Playing Their Finest Hour, reshuffeling the deck, having it cut and drawing Their Finest Hour and that 2 turns in a row is really freaky. Shocked Shocked Shocked

So without better options I ended up playing 3 consecutive Their Finest Hours... I felt embarrased playing it the third time but had no other options... Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed
