A MUST READ FOR SCENARIO BUILDERS Fri, 06 July 2012 13:16
dear sirs,

the expert maps database is growing rapidly and we are glad to see that and love to play them. But i hasitate more and more when i see that alot off scenarios are nor properly documented and/or do not work.

MOST IMPORTANT, i would like to see everyone who makes scenarios to implement ALL THE RULES used in the sceanario, as do the official scenarios !

For starters, players are reminded off all the special rules used in the map like that, and please do refer to the proper game cards also.
Not everyone has the same knowledge off and understands the rules that easy. (Us, we might be spoiled by playing a long time already.)
You put all the effort in to make a great scenario, so make it useable for all straight away, without people having to dig into there manuals for details.
Also, you can print the scenarios pdf for boardgame play, so that way it is easy to lay out all the game cards regarding troops, terrain, etc. ...

Secondly, do not use units that are not in the online version yet please. It will break your scenario sirs and it is not liked to discover you cant play your intended unit as you wanted and it breaks also the strategic play !

Last but not least: please do test your scenarios to see if all works properly !

I call this out again sirs for YOU, scenario builders !
You dedicate time and effort and we appreciate that very much, but nothing is as bad as expecting a good time for a player and discovering the gameplay doesnt work !

May i suggest to DoW that scenarios should not be able to be put online, without the proper rules implemented in the build !
Isnt it possible to trigger a text into the rules when special troops, actions, etc. are used ?

A last remark: Scenarios not including the above necessities, will always be graded down by me. That is a shame for alot off scenarios that realy have potential !
Sirs, it is because i appreciate your work, that i dedicate my time to write this long post. Make me proud to be a part off your community and challenge me to any build you made, even if it is to test it out !

gtz to all

Lets have lots more off memoir games and have FUN playing !

H. Cool

Just to tack on a little bit here, if that's ok, Flemish Havy -

Players are welcome to make whatever scenario they want, with whatever crazy rules or new units they feel like...BUT if the scenario is selected by a player for the Online system it should work on Memoir '44 Online!

For now, the scenarios that work on Memoir '44 Online need to only include terrain, units, and rules that are implemented and all of these can be found on the Wiki site: http://m44sed.wikispaces.com/

Once again, if it won't work for the online game, just don't tag it for that system!! Let people enjoy it on their table at home where they can implement anything they want! Like Flemish Havy said...nobody wants to start a game online to then discover it won't work with the online system. Confused

I was talking mainly about the expert online maps indeed !

Shure, we want scenarios with whatever terrain and/or units and/or actions etc ... for our boardgame or vassal games, ALL rules included afcourse !

thank you, maybe there needs to be a place to mark it for use online. I've only played 9 online games, as I prefer F2F games. I keep meaning to play more, but being married and all, nuf said.

You got it, especially online as she sees computer games as a "total waste of time". But it's cool, she likes other board games, just not war games. Confused

maybe she likes wargames more then you think !?
a relationship is a kind off anyways, since we are from mars and they come from venus, very strategical play if you ask me Laughing

also in your case (might also be mine Rolling Eyes ), the game is not played on a board Twisted Evil

lets face it 50th, memoir buddy Razz (although we should play eachother more for a match and a challenge), females love 'war' games alot, only they want to bend the rules a bit Laughing, and its our duty to keep reminding them we love to play it fair Very Happy

might be a bit off topic this one, but what the heck Laughing

For those making scenarios, please note that this checkbox next to the tank makes your scenario show up in Memoir'44 Online.

http://m44sed.wikispaces.com/file/view/Uncheck.png/333349220/Uncheck.png

IF YOU DO NOT PLAY ONLINE, THEN DO NOT CHECK.

One person checked a Breakthrough scenario. That doesn't work for us, and it takes up space in the scenarios list.

If you are making a scenario to play at home, then by all means, use whatever you want. Just don't check this box!
If you've checked it, please uncheck (see right pic).

You got it right Flemish, she wants to extend the building games until "she uses all her pieces". Men look to the goal, to win, women look to the process, (building, moving and shooting, whatever it takes to play the game). I heard this difference once in from a speaker on TV. That's why we men go to the store, get whats on the list, and leave, while women will shop all day for the same things.

Nice info JFKoski, I don't remember seeing that check box. I will watch for it in the future.
