Rank has it's privileges and perks though, and that light was really to bright :

So probably at least 150 wins needed (not the 250 mentioned soemwhere above).

I think the key here with the Col promotion is the kind of wins you have not so much the amount.
I spent hours working with the Cadets, so 5 of them getting promoted with me was highly likely.
It could be that a player not doing this may need closer to around 250 wins to get these numbers.
Training new Cadets into Battle is the requirement.
I would not have felt very good about my self by just taking a first game Cadet and expecting them to know much about the Pacific rules for example (what fun is that for either of us), so for each one that was interested to do this (Not all were) I would walk them through each play, explaining to them why and answering all their many questions.
It made for a very very long game at times and one that I would often then loose because I was just basicly playing myself.
However so many of them were over joyed, grateful and said they had a real good time so that just made the game for me too,
many would later keep inviteing me to different scenarios so I could teach that one(Arghh Commissar).
Bottom line is once I had got used to playing this way,
I cant say enough how I did completely enjoy it myself and then getting the promotion made it one of the best yet for me.
So watch out for my Cadets hopefully they are some of the best new troops out there.
Lt Col - Col
160 Wins.

Well, the Colonel's club seems rather deserted--I suppose everyone is on vacation--so I will just announce myself, and say a little about my journey to this point, for anyone who might possibly be interested--
When I made LTC in May of 2012 (yes, you read that right--it was a while ago!) I made a list of all of the regular scenarios that were available at that time (which obviously did not include the 17 that were released in December 2012). I then kept track of which ones I won, and from which side. When I could not find a match for a scenario I needed, I looked for cadets to play--but did not keep track of how many I played.
Of the scenarios on my list, I won all of them as the Allies, and all but Carentan Causeway and Utah Beach (which I later found out were not necessary) as the Axis. I also played a number of the December 2012 scenarios, but only when they were part of a tournament, or someone else invited me to play one of them. I am almost positive that I have not played, let alone won, all of them.
Besides taking 15 months to get from LTC to COL, I was also at 900+ games by then (although I did not keep track of how many of those I played after making LTC). So I am definitely at the other end of the spectrum from the fellow (I forget who it was, and cannot seem to find it in the thread at the moment) who made it in 3-4 weeks!
So it has been a long journey--I am happy to have finally made it! Will rest a while, then start working on BG--although given my slow pace, I may or may not get there!

Congratulations Sir, and welcome to the Colonel's Club.
As a former resident I hope you'll enjoy your stay, but rest assured a place is available at the Brigadier's Bar for you.

Congratulations tank commander!
A more thorough analysis and scorecard has not been posted. I imagine the Colonel's Club will soon be innudated by those who follow your lead.
Since you seem to be the type of fellow who analyzes things thoroughly, I'll let you in on my secret to making Brigadier General. It's not too complex, really.
Battle #1: get lucky and win it.
Battle #2: get lucky and win it from the other side.
Battle #3: Expert scenario. Get lucky and win it as the Allies.
Battle #4: repeat 49 times.
Battle #53: get lucky and win 50 Expert scenarios as the Axis.
Battle#104: play at least another 146 battles.
Battle #251: lose a regular / original scenario battle.
Then, voila! You will be a General.
Good luck!

Just promoted to Colonel today at night after a dozen more then 250 games. I started playing Memoir '44 the beginning of this year. Now I am going to enjoy the SFTF ones. There are some real gems in there. Pity my own designed one is full of bugs, but after 3 requests to DOW to look into it, because I just used the program to make it, I gave up. Maybe I try it again later. Any tips for this?
