MAD-RUS Round 2 matches
onyx puffin vs. vigulisum to play Monday

played on Sunday: ameteir 6 - Sivorro 0
1. 118 to 92
2. 106 to 104
3. 114 to 98
4. 112 to 91
5. 121 to 115
6. 120 to 70

thanks to sivorro for a new start in NC matches.

(added after note below: Ammazzati. AN understandable reaction. Some people like yaelka and Dea always laugh at me when I play them and win my first game and say, "Whew, at least I am not shut out." as inevitably each goes on to beat me 4-2 or 5-1. Sad )

Qorlas - AGT DN 4 - 2

136 - 120*
122* - 101
99 - 100*
123* - 93
109 - 119*
122*-117

I had two lucky draws in Game 1 and 6 that decided the series.
Dom made a really nice move at the end of game 3 blocking my minor tix with the last move. The remaining games went in a standard way.

Better luck in next games DN!

SOJA Ishamael - LMT Heizer_65 3-3

A tough match especially after the two first close games that I both lost but could have gone the other way as well.

120*-127 middle tickets. too greedy in the beginning meant I was 1 loko/yellow short to finish turn earlier. That gave Heizer just enough time to complete NY-Sea and Por-Nash
101-102* Van-SF, SSM-Okl. 8 loks and (almost) undisturbed north normally means very good chances for a win. But Heizer is fast with a fake LA-Mia (that was my 3rd ticket), and a very good 6 grey by Heizer meant that by securing longest I was too slow to complete SSM-Okl. Very good play by my opponent, I feel I should have improved the order of the tracks.
121-101 LA-NY, Den-ElP. I play my LA-NY (too?) risky trying to feign that I am blocking his not-existing Sea-NY instead. Luckily for me no block as I had few backup. Whew first win.
122-116 LA-Mia, LA-Chi. Good tickets for a break. Start is 6 black (6 orange, 6 blue on grey), 5 yellow, 4 purple, 6 red. This time there comes a block NO-Hou, but I have lots of options to connect. Unfortunately, I don't get longest by 1 (43-44) and I would lose against both Winn tickets by 1 or 2, ouch. Luckily for me he has only Dul-Hou Win-LR (and doesn't draw to play a 4er, but ends with a 3er). Perhaps drawing tickets was an option, but Heizer was possibly hoping for Chi-NO.
116-97 Dul-Hou and LA-Chi. Heizer has some colour problems, gets longest, but misses a ticket.
66-111 Mon-NO, Win-LR. Unfortunately no big climax as I lose the north battle early trying to block Van-Mon, but Heizer has all the 6ers, which meant I don't even complete Mon-NO.

thanks for the nice match, good luck in the next ones.

AGT-DN vs Qorlas 2-4

0*°-1 +MON-ATL +POR-NAS (VAN-SFE) vs +22 +HEL-LA (found: +21)
I was able to get a nice track including longest while Q prepared for fishing with a connection of SEA-LA-CHI-NY - no big surprise he found a biggie having 7 tix on his route

0-2*° +CAL-SLC +MON-NO (5) vs +CAL-PHO +SEA-LA +SSM-OKL
Longest was no option early with a rather bad combo and without start, his 6 white start was worst case for me on top of that so I did my best with 2 separate tracks, but pointless against a combo better by far and no chance for me to block anything

1*-2° +SFR-ATL -CHI-SFE (DAL-NY) vs +POR-PHO -SSM-NAS
What do you take, crap combo or crappier combo or real crappy combo...finally I took the right one as I won by 1 in the end with -9 instead of -11...big surprise for me - winning turn was 4 yellow block, as he left them open too long

1-3*° +MON-NO +WIN-LIL (5) vs +VAN-MON -4
I really was happy with colours and combo in the beginning, I could have made several northern 6ers and had 8 black...that feeling changed after few turns, Q starts 6 orange, me 6 grey, him 6 purple - my wrong to make TOR-PIT instead of 5 black, so they were gone next turn - I was very slow then connecting and stupidly lost 6 red, but game was already lost after 4 turns, with longest for him and fast 6er ending - bad play by me, could have done better, but no idea if there was a chance anyway

2*-3° +4 +LA-MI (MON-NO) vs +22 -6
Once again northern biggie alert as Q takes PIT-NY with 3rd turn after 6 yellow 6 white, when I had 6 black 6 orange - I decide to block 6 grey having no colours left for another big northern block - he connects via 4 black 6 purple TOR-PIT after CHI-PIT security move, me 5 white LA-PHo and 6 green - in between bot came for me and I couldn't reenter for 5 mins...bot took 2 cards closed, could have done worse - I need to wait for him using red as I have no blue for detour ATL-MIA, so I fake connection via KAN with 1er, he takes SEA-POR +4 red and me finally 6 red - he ends with 6 blue and I was sure of losing again against 22/7, nothing for me to go fishing, but he surprisingly had -6

2-4*° +17 +17 (TOR-MIA) vs +LA-MI -SEA-LA (found: +DUL-ELP)
I have chance for longest only via northern route but I'm short on orange - Q starts 6 black, I take orange open with #44, then 6 orange is gone Sad - I take 6 yellow + 6 grey, Q goes to SFR - me 6 blue, Q POR-SEA - I decide for POR-SFR instead of SFR-SLC, so his connection to SEA is gone, he connects with 3 purple...at this point longest for me was already gone and problems to go for my tix...I can connect NAS-ATL OKL-LIL 4red 3white as he doesn't disturb, but he prepares to connect MIA and no chance for me to block having used red already - we both end with a 5er, then Q takes his time thinking (he wins for sure with 20+2nd+longest)...and goes fishing, obviously I killed SEA-LA and he has only chance to find 8 8 10 - not that big surprise for me this day, that Q finds DUL-ELP and wins by 5

Not a funny evening for me, even the 2 flimsy winner felt like losing games

Marschall Vorwärts vs ITA LOCA 2-4

0-1*° +16 -WIN-HOU vs +CAL-PHO +HEL-LA
1*°-1 +4 +WIN-HOU vs +16 +WIN-LIL
1°-2*° +CHI-SFE +DEN-PIT (LA-MI) vs +CAL-PHO +CAL-SLC
1*°-3 +BOS-MIA +MON-NO vs +VAN-MON +TOR-MIA
2-3*° +SEA-NY +SSM-NAS vs +POR-NAS +4
2*°-4 -TOR-MIA -LA-MIA (found: -HEL-LA) vs +BOS-MIA -7

GTS ITALIA!

EDIT: game 2 tix corrected

AGT-DN vs Qorlas 2-4

0*°-1 +MON-ATL +POR-NAS (VAN-SFE) vs +22 +HEL-LA (found: +21)
Tix discarded: Mon-NO. I decide to go for the sea-ny-la-chi route from the start. Expect to not have chance for longest so prepare for the possible fiending. Good colors but short on blacks

0-2*° +CAL-SLC +MON-NO (5) vs +CAL-PHO +SEA-LA +SSM-OKL
Starting idea was to fake a big tix in the north and then go south central zone. My opening on whites was decisive and a lucky occurrence. Had nice colors to complete the route.

1*-2° +SFR-ATL -CHI-SFE (DAL-NY) vs +POR-PHO -SSM-NAS
Really bad options from which to choose. Discard chi-no.
I hope to have chances of fiending at the end with a nortish route. At the end I forgot that I could bluff por-Nas and went to represent a den-pit. The block at the end of the game took me by surprise.

1-3*° +MON-NO +WIN-LIL (5) vs +VAN-MON -4
Discarded dul-hou. Started with the idea of trying to play the quick game from the start. I was lucky to get the advantage in the tempo of the game and everything went as planned.

2*-3° +4 +LA-MI (MON-NO) vs +22 -6
After game 4 I decide to repeat the same tactic with sea-ny and ny-atl. This time I had not the success of the previous game.

2-4*° +17 +17 (TOR-MIA) vs +LA-MI -SEA-LA (found: +DUL-ELP)
La-Mia Sea-LA (Discarded mon-no)
I am worried to play a big south tix after all the long tix in the north. When DN takes open oranges I go for 6 oranges because: I don't need them on my expected route and I hope to give him trouble with his route and the longest. I try to bluff sea-por as a block from me on his possibly westish tix but this part backfires. Wait for reds and greens to be played to go for Miami.
Tickets are clear and I am behind and no chance to block DN tix without completing my LA-Mia. I draw in the last round and I am lucky to find Dul-Elp

maunaloa - Qorlas 2.5 - 3.5

81 - 90*
128* - 86
102 - 118*
94* - 126
126 - 121*
120* - 120

A really nice series! I started ahead with a couple of the wins mainly due to better combos and better colors.
From the 3 - 1 the last 2 games were really interesting:

Game 5 we finished really close sharing longest I had 17+7 with
SF-Atl while Maunaloa did a really nice route connecting LA with the last move.
I had to decide if believe he had LA-Mia and being in losing position or if he had another combo and being in a winning position.
I feared for LA-mia but decided to not draw beacuse the risk was too high and decided badly.
In game 6 on his start we reversed roles: I had La-mia while he had sf-atl. We arrived at the last move and I counted it a lot of times.... Finally I was sure that in worse case I was going for a tied game and went for it to win the series.

Thanks for the series and better luck in your next games!

Just finished

SOJA Patterson vs LMT brainaid 4-2

Looking at 0-2 after 20 min of playing, game 1 nice faking of LA-Mia from brainaid with me screwing up my own SF-Atl in the block, 2nd game last turn block of Den-Pitt, found 1, but still not enough. Btw, brainaid starts uneven games.

Then apparently, my turn to win some. Cal-Pho, SSM-Okl against east tix. Fake biggie in the North from brainaid, followed by blocking the middle, but I manage to get thru. Yes, the break I needed. Game 4 Port-Pho, Mon-NO and Bos-Mia. Hmmm, even on serve not my favorite part of the game, but with Den-Pit and SSM-Nash brainaid has its own problems, but manages to make a very nice track. I decide to keep both east tix, managing a 44er. Yep, it's deuce. Van-SFe, SSM-Okl vs east tix. Opening of 6 grey is not much appreciated over here, but I manage the tix and longest, enough for a +2 win, and nothing to draw for for brainaid. Game 6, another pretty choice, Den-ElP, Mon-Atl and Dal-NY, decide to pick the smallest tix and go for quick finish. I am enough in brainaid's way and I suspect he has some color/locs problems, and he cannot connect LA-Mia after I finish in 8 turns and even with longest.

Yes, SOJA is on the scoring board! Good luck, brainaid and LMT, for the remainder of this NC!
