Jeroen, can you post the full results table, so I can have a look at medal totals and individual records for all players?

Of course, will do that this evening (CET). Didn't have enough time this morning.

And was to flabbergasted to do it. Had to sit down for a minute. 52-52 Very Happy

I am so sorry, real life and Memoir 44 got in the way of posting results. Embarassed

Here is the score after round 10:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30626174/M44%20Stuff/Westourround10.png

Only 2 generals managing 8-2 score and that's Droopy and Lucky91 (Who both scored their 8th point in the last round.) Well done gentlemen!

I had tremendous fun and enjoyed playing against our worthy opponents very much.

Again a big thank you to LooneyLlama who has again provided a level playing field that took us to the last round neck and neck to each other!

As stated Droopy and Lucky have an 8-2 score and directly after that Artimon and my Nemesis Tank Commander are at 7-3.

I myself have achieved perfect balance: 52-52 overall and for me personally 5-5 and 66-66.

How Zen is that? Laughing

Only Eric "outZens" me with 5-5 and 67-67!

Thanks Jeroen for breaking down the tournament. I lost my last 3 to go 5-5.
It seemed like everyone had fun.

If we do another one, what type of tournament would everyone like? Another theater or mixed theaters? Team concept again?

Also, as I mentioned on the logistic site, is anyone interested in an Overlord final?

I would quite like a Mediterranean theatre as another tourney, but to be honest, ANY other tourney is good ! Smile

Agree with JayKay. Let's go back to the Mediterranean.I am particularly interested in that theater, as I was not part of the original Mediterranean tournament.

I would also suggest that we keep the team concept.

However, I also agree with JayKay's statement that almost any format would be fun!

This tournament was Great Eric,
As was the previous,

For a net tournament, the theater of was doesn't matter for me, as long as the scenario's are as great as these Very Happy

Playing in teams is fun, but maybe if the teams are a bit smaller, you communicate more. Like 2 axis en 2 allies in 1 team or something.

Well Gentlemen, I can report that the Overlord was no less close as the whole tournament.

Quit2 and myself squared of against Tank Commander and LooneyLlama himself (briefly assisted by Gonzalan).

Map see down below.

The Allies moved in aggressively on Overloon and managed to capture it (at some cost)

Dice were fickle for both sides, but the cards kept coming for the Axis (I believe). Two armor Assaults played by the Allies were countered and the Panzers just managed to shoot better and be missed more.

In the penultimate turn the Allies failed to kill of a Panzer unit for the final medal, the score the being 14 to 16 (Axis having 14) I could then play Barrage BEL and DFHQ for an offensive to get three medals. The Barrage was played on Helmond hurting and retreating the unit on the permanent medal there leaving the door open for the sniper to move in with BEL.

On the German left three panzers (1 2 and 3 fig) assisted by a lonely infantry (that saw it's very first order Smile ) managed to snag two armor units `(1 and 2 fig) for a 17 to 16 AXIS win!

So in games a 53 to 52 battles win for the germans. (medals 626 v 585).

Here's the map at the end of the Overlord of this exciting tournament.
(Opening it in a different window will allow you to zoom in a little Smile )

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/30626174/M44%20Stuff/OverloonEndgame.png

Overloon was a typical LooneyLlama scenario: lots of different units, lots of reinforcements, lots of rules (made my head spin sometimes Smile ), lots of decisions to make (Me and Wim not always seeing things the same way Smile ), lots of fun.

And . . . . . a Win for the Axis forces! Congrats to all the German generals who made this possible! And thanks to all the Allied generals for making it exciting until the end when the Axis must prevail.

I will take a moment here to remember our fallen comrades:
Dugrim
southoftheborder
Goekawar
IronGuthHeath
Michelecannone.

They fought bravely and could not go further (for various reasons, most of them because in their real lives they met with joyful and good experiences) may they be able to join us for more battles in the future. Smile

Yes the battle was lost on the Allied right along with 8 tanks lost to only 1 panzer.

The first kill came at a key time when one panzer took out a forward tank with 3d. I had ARMOR ASSAULT in hand and had that US tank survived it may have caused serious damage. Then the mines were deployed and they also limited out chances.

Needless to say our 22 % shooting (with our last 28 shots hitting as just 18%) vs the armor on this side vs 50 % for the panzers was key. Three times we missed a 1 fig panzer and once this allowed a panzer to recover 3 figs from a HT in the next German turn.

Then in the end game, I just plain ran out of any worth while cards for any flank. My card draws in the end game were just brutal.

Still we had a few chances to close this out on our final turn and the turn before (although a few were long shots).

We had a 13 to 7 lead but then over the next three turns we could only add 3 kills to the Germans 10.

Having leads of 13 to 7, 15 to 10 and 16 to 10, I thought for sure we would prevail.

Being only 1 medal away going into what would be out final turn and only being able to order 4 units (one from Int) for the entire board and getting off only 2 attacks was a killer.

Re:Western Front Tournament Results Mon, 26 January 2015 01:01
Thanks Jeroen, Wim, Tony(for a while) and John for playing my Overlord scenario. All I can ask for is that it plays out as even as possible for both sides. Any Overlord scenario has to maintain interest for all players in all sections for the duration of the game. Even though we had only four players for the most part, each section was well represented in the battle.

What I was encouraged by was that Wim and Jeroen had some disagreements as to strategy. Not because they argued but that the scenario gave them so many options.

Another encouraging point is that we got started right away. However, it still took 4 hours to play. That's OK in my book as the hours went by very quickly since we were playing continuously.

As far as another tournament goes it is very hard to write interesting scenarios with so many bugs and limitations online. It really stifles my creativity. But, that doesn't mean I won't have another. Just not in the near future.

What I am going to do is have a monthly Overlord scenario played on Vassal. Next month's will be 'Operation Nordwind'(I had some help from Quit2 on this one). I have 3 others in the works that I am excited about that you haven't seen. We will play a different one each month. They will be played on a Sunday starting at 10 A.M. Eastern Standard time. If you are interested in playing, please PM me with a date or dates you would be available. I will choose the most popular one. I am looking for 3-7 players. Thanks.

Eric (LooneyLlama)
